Door closes on Opportunity Knocks

All you game-show fans that have been peeking out your curtains just waiting for the Opportunity Knocks bandwagon to show up in your cul-de-sac, you're wasting your time. ABC has canceled Opportunity Knocks after just three episodes, making it the first ABC show to be swept under the rug.

If JD Roth shows up on your doorstep, run!

Opportunity Knocks was a bit of a ratings bummer, averaging just a 1.9 rating and 5 share in the key 18-49-year-old demographic and 6.3 million viewers, according to Variety. It will be replaced on Tuesday nights by a Dancing With the Stars recap. Ouch. ABC is considering airing the remaining episodes later on.

In case you missed it, Opportunity Knocks was a game show on wheels. The production would literally roll up to contestants' houses, set up in the street, and tape the show with friends and neighbors watching from the sidewalks. The game would test families' knowledge of one another, asking questions such as, "How many girls has little Billy kissed?" J.D. Roth hosted, with Ashton Kutcher one of the producers.

This is the second cancellation this season, with Fox ditching Do Not Disturb weeks ago.

OK guys, what do you think will be the next show to go?

Opportunities for J.D. Roth may not be knocking on my door. So, if J.D. ends up showing up at my family's house in Minnesota, run!

No door knocking on Tuesdays anymore - Opportunity Knocks is history!
Will J.D. Roth return for more? Forget him!

I certainly don't think Reality is done by any means, quality shows like Amazing Race, Project Runway, Hell's Kitchen and Survivor not to mention the talent shows American Idol & America's Got Talent have consistently posted strong numbers year in & year out. Not every reality show works just like not every comedy or drama show finds an audience. A good concept is still a good concept.

When did Game Shows and Reality TV become the same thing? Quite Frankly GSN would have been a better home for Opportunity Knocks and I did watch one episode, it was watchable. The Ex List beat Crusoe in the ratings of its premiere episode so with that Crusoe is gone next week. The Ex List has a chance to last for a full 13 episode run but Crusoe does not.

I knew this show wasn't going to last long when I saw the commercials... this show just wasn't any good...

Reality Television is cheap and based on the success of Dancing and American Idol it works but now I think it's starting to dissipate. If only there was some creative talent making shows for prime-time instead of networks like HBO!

Reality TV is so done. Producers and studios have scraped the bottom of the barrel by giving every has been a reality show of their own, and I, for one, am sick of reality shows taking up space where other shows could be. I think the next show to go should be Gary Unmarried. I know it's not a reality show, but it's really lame.

Oh my god, leave The Ex List alone already! It's an adorable show and there's nothing wrong with that! If you want to cancel a show producers, turn your attention to Knight Rider and leave my Ex List alone.

I have another show cancellation to add. The show Taken Out, which was on Channel Ten, premiered in September. The emphasis was on speed dating. After a few episodes, it got pink slipped. IMHO, any show centered around superficial ideas that make no sense deserves to get the axe!

This is an easy one...AXE EVERYTHING!!!!!!!! I can't believe how AWFUL all these new shows are. It's bad enough the returning shows are mostly all bad. If it wasn't for TVonDVD (old series only) my TV would be in the garbage dump.

I truly hope it's the Dancing with the Star Results show. I would love it if they would do the dances and the elimination the same day. The 2 day thing with all the singers and dancers that aren't part of the show is a bunch of crap. I only watch the last 4 minutes anyway. Actually, I would like to see Knight Rider leave TV. It's been a major bust so far this fall.

Okay-I'm obviously in the minority here, but I like the Ex List(CBS)and Easy Money(CW). I like the premise of Valentine(CW)-but frankly-it's simply awful. I could care less about Knight Rider, both in the 80's and now, so I'd be happy to see it go.The only good thing I have to say about reality TV on the networks is that those are hours I can give to other shows. I've never watched Survivor. I tried Dancing with the Stars the first season-but found it boring. I have never met anyone who's watched the Amazing Race-so how do they keep winning Emmy's? I like American Idol try-outs, but quit watching after they do the final selection.I LOVE Pushing Daisies. It's fresh, beautiful, well-cast, well-written and well-acted. For me, it's one the very best network shows. What I want is more intelligent TV. Where's Aaron Sorkin when you need him?moreless

Technically, it's three if you count The Riches which was on FX. The show starred Minnie Driver and Eddie Izzard.

As for the the next show to get the axe, my money's on the Ex List. DIShonrable mention-Gary Unmarried.

Whatever the outcome is, it's gonna be a bloodbath!

... Sidebar I dont consider the CW a real Network (other then One Tree Hill, that is) so I dont even care if the whole channel goes up in smoke let alone one show from there...

First off can we say all together now... "No more reality tv!!!!!" What the world needs more of is well written shows... Not well meaning shows. Nobody cares what another family thinks about their siblings and parents... Hell, most of America doesnt even care about their own siblings and parents let alone some strangers on tv. As for what will be the next show canceled? My money is on Night Rider, Gary Unmarried or Sara Conor...

Please let it be Night Rider. I saw five seconds the other day and it was sooo lame...

I'm predicting that "The Ex-List" will be next to go. Either that, or those two dramedys that are airing Sunday nights on The CW, whatever their names are.
