...Idina Menzel, who is essentially the grownup version of series star Lea Michele, has joined the cast of Glee for the season's remaining nine episodes. She'll play the coach of a rival show choir. One assumes the Broadway vet will do some singing as well. [THR]
...FX has gone and ordered a second season of that new FX comedy The League, a show that makes the bold and heretofore unheard of supposition that men enjoy watching, and talking about, sports. I know, the subject matter is a little out-there for me too. But some people live on the fringes of society, and I suppose they like this kind of thing. Men watching sports! Why, it's as bizarre as men marrying each other! [Variety]
...The always-dependable Alfre Woodard has signed-on to co-star in that TNT Jason Lee series Delta Blues, about the policeman-by-day, Elvis-impersonator-by-night. She'll play Lee's stern boss down at the police station who, we'd imagine, gets in the way of his nighttime crooning. [THR]
...ABC clearly has high hopes for their new drama The Deep End, as they plan to debut it in the tough Thursday 8pm slot. They're right to be cocky though. This series sounds bold and fresh, and wholly original. Do you know what it's about? Four young lawyers starting out at a cutthroat law firm. Lawyers!!! On a television show!!! Lunacy. Next thing you know, they're going to want to start marrying each other. [Variety]
...Fox recently cast a lady in a role that was meant for a man. Greg Garcia's new comedy, Keep Hope Alive, originally called for a lazy slacker who lived in a tent and was a dude. But they've just gone and cast a girl instead, someone from Scrubs named Kate Micucci. So, good for them! Gender-blind casting! Let's hope it works out for 'em. [THR]
...Let's hope he can set-up a shot as well as he can do an American accent. Hugh Laurie will be directing an upcoming episode of House, that medical series that everyone loves. I don't really get it, but I don't get a lot of things. Though, I'll always love Hugh Laurie for Peter's Friends. [EW]

Yes no more Dollhouse! I hope Hugh Laurie can direct.
OK, so is Kate Micucci playing a man, or did they change the role for her. I know women have played men before (Linda Hunt in The Year of Living Dangerously), but aren't there any good male actors left to choose from? I'm just saying...
Hugh Laurie is so freaking talented, i'm sure he'll be brilliant as a director too.
Thanx god that Dollhouse got cancelled, it was about fricking time. As for Richard Lawson, what's your deal with men and gays.I mean give it a rest, a snug little comment in every single paragraph.Take a load of man.The league is hilarious, especially TACO,House rules, Glee in ok and i hope that none of the other shows reach more than 3 episodes in the season cuz im so tired of lawyer and cop shows, i mean from all the people and writers in the world no one can come up with something original....come on.
The League gets renewed and Dollhouse gets cancelled?! What kind of Foolishness!!
Hmmm... It'll be an interesting House episode, that's for sure. I mean, it's not the first, it won't be the last time that one of the actors directs an episode of a series he's in, but this one might be a very good way to see if Laurie is as good director, as he is an actor.
I'm definitely going to check out that House episode when it airs.
idina...couldn't be more perfect person to join the cast of Glee. I hope they do another round of Defying Gravity.
I think Kate Micucci was part of the 'pregnant women are smug' song duo Garfunkel & Oates. If you havent seen it, it's pretty awesome:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tJRzBpFjJS8
you're right you don't get a lot of things. glad you're finally admitting how slow you are.
interesting
