Being the only guy amongst the Satisfaction girls comes easy to Dustin Clare.
Dustin Clare returns to Brothel 232 for the third season of Showcase's steamy season of Satisfaction.
"I play Sean, Mel's [Madeleine West] brother, the male sex worker as part of the establishment," he said.
"We open the series with Sean and Nat's [Kestie Morassi] relationship. It comes to a head at some point throughout the series so it's about whether they move forward or not."
Amongst the sex workers of the 232 girls, Sean is clearly the black sheep. But having worked in McLeod's Daughters, Clare admits it is something he takes in his stride.
"There's usually five women in the Green Room and me! I always seem to be in heavily female-dominated casts, except for Underbelly. But I enjoy it," he said.
"I'm really excited about this series. It's definitely the most risky series of Satisfaction because of the storylines. They're bringing out some really timely and pertinent issues. We look at rape from other perspectives, the effect of drugs. And we look at how the line of consent can be blurred and what is consent and what is too far. It's really interesting.
"It also looks at what women face later in their lives with menopause. In general, the storylines have branched out and the writing has been the riskiest and most-attacked of the series writing so far."
Earlier this year Clare was also memorable as killer Chris Flannery in Underbelly: A Tale of Two Cities. His performance was praised for capturing the character of a real-life underworld identity, particularly with his unique speech patterns.
"I got a lot of sound recordings and footage so it was really helpful. You've got to try and honour those roles when you're playing real life characters like that. I think the benchmark for that is Richard Roxburgh when he did Blue Murder as Roger Rogerson. You've just got to try and equal some moment of his great performance," he said.
At least for the 10 episodes of Satisfaction, he gets to have a little more fun.
"The great thing about this series is there's a lot of comedy in it. You can't have sex without comedy! There's some really nice comedic moments breaking up the heavy drama. It's a nice balance."
Satisfaction airs 8:30pm Tuesdays on Showcase.
