Sheridan told TV Guide magazine that her character Edie Britt must represent somebody that Desperate Housewives creator Marc Cherry did not like and said he had trouble "distinguishing between fact and fiction".
When last seen, Edie had crashed her car while trying to flee her husband. The ABC drama picks up the story in Sunday's episode, with Edie mourned by her Wisteria Lane neighbours.
Cherry told TV Guide that the show had been under pressure to cut costs, with the magazine estimating that Sheridan's departure would save up to £135,000 an episode.
Cherry also said Edie's story and sexual escapades had run their course.

I miss Edie and wish they would bring her back. She added a certain je ne sais pas, a spark to the show. They could still have the character return.....
