Eleventh Hour gets five more hours

Mr. Rufus Sewell

At this point, it seems as though CBS could air hours of paint drying and still get more than 10 million people to watch. The network is on a roll, and has rewarded one of its new series with a five-episode extension.

Eleventh Hour will now have at least an 18-episode debut season with the five episodes tacked onto its initial 13-episode order, says The Hollywood Reporter. The drama is the second-most watched new show of the season, behind only the breakout hit The Mentalist, also on CBS.

Produced by explosions master Jerry Bruckheimer, Eleventh Hour stars Rufus Sewell (Dark City) as a science adviser to the government who gets called in to clean up sticky situations. The show premiered in October and is currently on its seventh episode.

The Hollywood Reporter suspects that the show wasn't given a full 22-episode pickup because CBS plans to do some tinkering with its lineup and try a few shows in Eleventh Hour's cushy post-CSI slot. If that's the case, expect Eleventh Hour to take a short break sometime soon.

CBS needs to get with it and reinstate "The Eleventh Hour". It was a series that was thought provoking and gave you something to test your little gray cells.

Love the show. But when are they going to air it again? When is Season 2 going to premiere? The suspense is killing me. I thought it was going to air with CSI but it's not. And they CBS took it out their list of shows.

Best show on TV as far as I am concerned. Hope they bring it back next season and will they show the 18 shows as reruns. I would like to tape them. Love Jacob Hood a very classy fellow too. How about a little wondering looks at each other once in a while. Love it and never miss it.

Good show. Glad to see the commentary on scientific issues not found anywhere else; this is not a procedural show per se but deals with ethics and the search for truth using the scientific method--welcome antidotes for all the irrationality out there.

I'm very glad to hear that the show is getting the extra hours but always dread to hear when they start moving shows around. It always seems to be the death of a show when they do that.

    Good show, good news.

  • realjamesdean

This is great news. I'm a little behind at the moment, but the few episodes I've seen were all great. I'm looking forward to catching up.

  • malawi69

That's awesome, I'm really glad to see that a least one of the new shows I'm watching isn't getting axed, though a confirmation of a full season pickup, would've been all the more merrier... still great news

Excellent show, hope it continues, look forward to ABC going bust after cancelling two of my favourite shows :(

Good to have some positive news on one of this season's newbies. At least the extra episodes will help people to get into it more.

  • Brunte81

Great show, I hope it get's even more hours.

The original British version of Eleventh Hour was actually an ITV show, but I'm aware that BBC America shows a lot of UK programmes from different networks.

After so much bad news from ABC it is great to hear at least a few really quality new shows are getting a little bit of a thumbs up from a network. Given CBS probably have the most new programming to try and fit in over the next few months it would be real easy for them to trim a few shows right back. The Eleventh Hour has come on in leaps and bounds and Rufus Sewell in particular has now really nailed a really great tv character in Jacob Hood. This IS a procedural, but it DOES bring a fresh face to the genre - it isn't a CSI, it's a bit like Fringe at times, only the characters a better fleshed out and the stories are not riddled with holes. If you haven't seen this yet then you're missing some of the best tv hours this season. And a tip; when it bugs you like me who Jacob sounds like so often and you're sitting wondering who the heck IS that ... I finally realised it was a at times almost a carbon copy of Christopher Walken, both the voice and to a large degree the mannerisms. No idea if it's on purpose but it's by no means a bad thing. EH is definitely becoming a solid keeper!moreless

I like this show. i'm happy they're keeping it.

  • stath1977

Great news, great show. Keep them coming.

Zzzz this show I wanted to be good it just is bad.

  • Nikkles

I think networks mess with the line up too much . . .

  • bernsd3

For a procedural, I think this one is really good. Better than the 2006 BBC original with Patrick Stewart -- although that might be because they only had 4 episodes! When it first started airing, I wasn't even going to watch it -- but it's been a very pleasant surprise.

  • Fwirrel

I still haven't gotten myself to watch the show yet. It looks good and it's getting renewed so I really should try to watch it now... congrats to Eleventh Hour. CBS is my favorite channel by far.

Congrats to CBS another freshman hit.
