For Lost fans, the past week has been good...really good. Like finding a ton of food in the Dharma Initiative's hatch good. Last Tuesday the Season Three DVD was released, allowing obsessed fans to rewatch Desmond come to grips with his new powers, Kate and Sawyer stuck in animal cages, and Locke go off to see "The Man Behind the Curtain," at their own leisure.
Late last week, ABC announced its midseason schedule, which included Lost's return. After owning Wednesday nights, the sci-fi drama will now take over Thursday nights at 9 p.m. What's more, the premiere of season four is coming a little earlier than expected and will debut on January 31.
ABC also released a short 30-second trailer for season four last week, but little was revealed through the half-minute of frenzied cuts (although the number 6 at the end is an interesting clue).
While all that is nice for Losties, the real surprise came yesterday with an extended trailer for season four (or watch in the video player, above right), which unveils that for the survivors of Oceanic 815 the s*** is about to hit the fan in buckets.
The trailer, which runs one minute and 47 seconds, begins with a brief intro before launching into what anyone who finished season three knows: Some form of "rescue" is on the way. The characters revel in the hope of going home (Hurley swimming!), but of course, there's a catch.
When picked through with a fine-toothed comb, the trailer offers up some serious questions: Was that Jack's dad? Who gets off the island? Who is that grave for? And, of course, there's that number 6 again.
Another highlight is the first look at new cast members Ken Leung (The Sopranos) and Jeremy Davies (Rescue Dawn), who utters one of the more spine-tingling bits of dialogue: "Rescuing people? Can't say it's our primary objective."
If the trailer is any indication, season four of Lost may just blow some people's minds.
The strike has cut Lost's season down to eight episodes, and ABC is planning to air them without a break. The original season order was for 16 episodes. Lost is currently scheduled to end in 2010.

youst great i LOST my words :)
Oh my God, I just watched the trailer and I am so looking forward to the new season. It's gonna be off the hook....... The best thing about lost is that we hardly ever know what's going to happen next, unlike other series out there.
Great extended trailer, it really got me pumped again for season 4! Seems like it's been so long since season 3 ended I started to forget about the show. Kudos for making me remember why I enjoyed this show so much.
well the show is between the two either it goes great and we can watch the 8 episodes or it will be bad and we wont watch lost again
I cannot wait!!! But, only EIGHT episodes?!?!?!?! Dang!
Lost will never be the same once they are found. They might as well just change their series to "LOST,BUT FOUND".
It really looks more idiot than the other seasons (never thought it was possible anyway).
I'm waiting for this to laugh a lot.
8 episodes is a bit of a dissapointment, we are used to gettin 23/24 episodes per season, and eight might just be a bit of a let down!, but i suppose 8 is better than none! hopefully the wga will get their differences sorted out and stop the viewer from suffering!!
Fantastic trailer, but are there really only going to be 8 episodes in the season??
Whoa, man this is really great but then there is the sick making waiting for the next episode for a whole week. Why do we do this to ourselves? Can't wait though for season 4, bring it on

HOLY CRAP!! I can not wait...*woohoo* It has been forever since the show has been on. I am not happy though that they are moving it to Thursdays. I have too many shows on that day already. I may have to have a marathon to remember what happened before. LOL

Now that Lost is working with end in sight I'm pretty sure we're going to see a more exciting show, not that I don't already think it's exciting. I know Lost will continue an amazing standard of storytelling.
Oh my goodness. That was one thrilling trailer. I can't wait for January 31st!
It seems to me like once again, Locke saves the day :P

i'm tired of waiting :(
why the hell are they running the season early and not completed? didn't they learn last season not to mess with story flow, not to mention that the whole 3 seasons of 16 was there idea over the whole 2 seasons of 24 episodes. i just hope that it doesn't mess with the flow of the story. it was a rockin' clip though.
