Family feud delays Guy

The Family get together will have to wait just a little longer.

Seth McFarlane, the creator of the Fox animated hits Family Guy and American Dad!, for which he also performs many of the voices, is still negotiating with the network on his new contract, reports Daily Variety. McFarlane's current contract expires in a few months, and production on the Guy's 2007-2008 season is scheduled to begin now.

The production office of the show remains empty however, with staff being told not to report to work until the contract is finalized. McFarlane is holding out for a better deal from the net after both of the shows have become ratings hits, helping Fox anchor its Sunday night animation block.

McFarlane is also slated to coexec produce the live-action Fox sitcom The Winner. Fox says negotiations are friendly and that the deal will be fixed up in the next few weeks.

Family Guy originally ran on Fox from 1999 to 2003. In 2005 Fox aired McFarlane's American Dad!, and fan demand convinced the net to bring back Guy. Both shows air on Sunday nights after The Simpsons.

For the record, this article is off on a couple of points. First (as someone else already mentioned), American Dad! is simply NOT a "ratings hit," although it's doing well enough to bring back. Second, and most importantly, Fox brought back Family Guy because of the consistently strong DVD sales and the ratings of repeats on Adult Swim. It was NOT because of American Dad, Mr. Colin Mahan (if that is your real name), it was the success of Family Guy on DVD and on Adult Swim that led to its resurrection. Check your facts!

you think daaats baaad. what about the time i won a date to mexico with gary coleman?

south park hit famiy guy right between the eyes with its 'cartoon wars' episodes. FG has the kind of jokes told by people who aren't funny. the cadance is right, the topics are usually potentaly funny, but there is no where near the laughs there should be. those writers are comedy fans not comedians. obviously, they are only good at handling manatee balls.

Why are ppl either one or the other? I love both the simpsons(probably just slightly more) and family guy. Both are funny in both similar ways and then for completely dif ways.
The simpson has just changed their comedy direction and i hate when ppl say the last few years sucked I think it keeps getting better.you suck!

I hope they cancel Family Guy all the jokes are dragged out. You get half an episode of flash backs and the other half of useless run-on jokes.

American Dad being a ratings hit? Are they kidding? But seth deserves a lot, Fox has screwed up most shows, the least of which is Family Guy. Seth deserves some money to make up for it. If it wasn't for Family Guy I wouldn't be watching anything on fox, through it I've learned about stuff like Justice and now I am a watcher of that too.

I was watching Kidnapped because of good ads for it but Fox screwed it up (airing one episode when DVRs didn't know to record it) Fox screws up alot, if They want Family guy, they need to pay, because we know it's all going to get screwed up in the end.

I hope the deal is done soon.Im looking forward to seeing what McFarlane has up his sleeve this year.Im wondering how much further he can push the envelope. While I still think this is the boldest sitcom on TV,I wonder how long before the fart jokes start getting old?

Family Guy is a really good show and while some episodes are stupid overall it is original for being so over the top satirical. Just my opinion!

Family Guy dosent diserve more money. Tell me why they do. The Simpsons actors except Julie Kavner and Yearley Smith do up to 30 voices at a time. The Simpsons also is funnier then Family Guy; yes even todays episodes.

Family Guy used to be funny but it seems that popularitly got them off tack which preventing them from being funny. Season 4 started out well but it stopped having the funny and greatness. However American Dad has a lot of funny episodes but its low on viewers and ruining Sunday night along with The War At Home.

FOX has a history of stupidity when it comes to keeping shows especially when their doing well. They better make a compromise for both parties asap.

If the voice actors for the Simpsons can get about a quarter mil per episode, then I'm sure that they should give Seth the same, or even more being that he's the show runner.
