Family Guy spinoff guaranteed second season

Another money-printing machine for Fox.

While other shows battle to get renewed after establishing a devoted fan base, a solid television track record built on years of airtime, and critical applause, Family Guy spinoff The Cleveland Show is getting another season before it even makes its debut.

Fox has ordered 13 more episodes of Cleveland, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The show is the latest animated creation from Family Guy creator and animation king Seth MacFarlane, and features Griffin family neighbor Cleveland out on his own with his family.

The original season-one order for Cleveland was for 13 episodes, and Fox quickly added nine more for a full season. The latest episode order is for an additional 13 for the 2010 fall season, which shows that Fox likes what it has seen. By placing an order now, Fox can keep production on the show uninterrupted, as animated programs require a lengthy lead time to get to air.

Looks like Sunday nights on Fox are quickly becoming Seth MacFarlane day.

This show is terrible if you can find the pilot on the net i suggest watch it and see why so many people are hating on it. I love seth's comedy normally but this was dire and unless some serious changes are made and quick its not going to stay above water. It has no characters you can relate to or want to know more about, unlike the characters from Family guy and American dad. Its shocking how bad it is.

It could be good. Fox thinks it will be.

I didn't even know there was a first season for this show! Cleveland is without a doubt the most dull character in Family Guy - if they really needed a spin off surely they could have chosen a better character. Maybe not Stewie though, might've been a bit "Pinky and the Brain" all over again but this time for adults.

funny how their putting all their eggs in one basket when they don't even know if the show will do well or be shunned like the cavemen. I wonder what their gonna do with so much air time since sitdownshutup is an awful show waiting to be cancelled and king of the hill is ending soon. I'll give it a try but so far it looks like a total copy of family guy. they even made cleveland jr fat so that he resembles chris. all their missing is a dog and its official. btw family guy is already renewed till 2012 so you can stop complaining. american dad i believe is renewed for its next season but they haven't said anything past that which is sad considering its ratings are waay better than family guys right now due to the writers strike episodes airing now. theres been a few good eps this season of family guy but its also had the worst rated episodes ever. American dad has been shining with its best season ever after the writers strike. hopefully family guy will reach season 9 soon that way its caught up to current events since season 8 wont air till the fall and its a year behind current event wise by then.moreless

I'm guessing this is meant to fill the gap for when King of the Hill ends. Imo, this is a big mistake. Instead of a new show, they should bring back Futurama for a new season.

They renew a show that has not yet been aired, and they won't show all the episodes of Dollhouse that they already ordered?!? [outburst of frustration that lacks coherent words]

Nothing can beat Family Guy... why it has to fight to stay alive and this show gets ANOTHER season is beyond me...

Why would they do this? There's no guarantee this will be good.

I guess Fox is covering it's bases since King of the Hill will be gone. Either way can't wait to see it.

Sure, I won't tune in, but I'm glad they can get Cleveland in order before FG is even fully recovered from the writer's strike, I think we're still watching last years eppi's...
