Fans fight for Michael Vartan

Diehard fans of Alias star Michael Vartan have been tapping away at their keyboards in an effort to save his character's life. When it was leaked in the New York Post that Vartan had filmed his last day on the set of the hit spy show, fans took to their computers to raise the rally cry against killing his character. Vartan's character, Michael Vaughan, plays the lover and fellow CIA operative of Alias herself, Sydney Bristow (played by Jennifer Garner).

Although ABC has not confirmed that his character is being killed off in the upcoming season, in the season-ending cliff-hanger for the show, Vaughan and Sydney were involved in a deadly looking car accident just as Vaughan was about to reveal a huge secret to Sydney.

In real-life, Garner is pregnant with the baby of her new husband, actor Ben Affleck, and Alias writers say they will involve her pregnancy in the show's storyline. Previous to her relationship with Affleck, Garner was romantically involved with Vartan. On-set tensions have been rumored between Vartan and Garner, leading worried fans to fear that he's being written out of the show to alleviate these personal issues.

While a Web site has sprung up to let fans express their dismay at the possibility of Vartan's character being killed (www.mvcampaign.com), there has been some speculation that the leak was just a publicity stunt meant to generate buzz for the show.

Alias returns for it's fifth season this Fall.

Having a romantic relationship with a work colleague and then breaking up can be hell at work after the break up. Let Michael go he doesn't deserve the torture.

****s Vartan may go, him AND Grunberg leaving is absolutely crushing. Still, it's not the same as loosing Garner. Without her, there is no show, regardless of her replacement and how amazing they could be. I wouldn't even rank her leaving ALIAS with David Duchovney leaving the X-files and being replaced with Robert Patrick.
No, this would be VERY different. Anyway, I never cared much for Vaughn, but this past season he got a lot cooler, especially in those final moments... but loosing Greg Grunberg ****s so much more than Michael Vartan.

Killing off Michael Vaughan would be a mistake. His character is a main part of the story line. Making a change like that would not be in the best interest of the show.

IllyriaRules, do you even understand what the word "spoiler" means? it's only a spoiler if something has ALREADY HAPPENED. speculation, on the other hand, is just that and doesn't spoil anything. unless you're a complete moron with no imagination or ability to filter through information from the outside world.

Say it isn't so! Alias without Michael Vartan? It'll lose all its' character! Don't let him get away, ABC! You already dumped Monday Night Football; you can't afford to screw up Alias.

I always thought Mia Maestro was there to be the "Replacement Sydney", put in place just in case Jen G.'s movie "career" (*snickersnickerha-ha*) took off. Now we've got limited Garner involvement, another pointless new "Sydney Clone", and the possible loss of Michael Vartan. Can we make this season any lamer? All that's keeping me now is Victor Garber and even then I have to fight the siren song of "Smallville" with its promised guest spots by James Marsters and Carrie Fisher.

I started watching Alias become of Michael Vartan and I think it would be extremely harmful for the show if his character left.

I like MV but its going to be the last year of Alias anyway so does it really matter if he is gone? Doesnt this give him a chance to get first crack at another job on another show? He is a good actor, he will do fine. And if he stays all the better! This mv campaign is stupid though! Just a waste of time.

Jennifer can go. We all need to get use to the idea the show can work without Jennifer. Its only a matter of time til they cancel the show because she want s to end on a high note. Alias isn't about Sydney its about the spy world so give us a new spy we like and 86 Jennifer. I mean this whole Rambaldi thing is going nowhere and if Sydney was such a super agent why is she lied to every season and believes it. C'mon!!
