Fichtner invades Prison Break

The Invasion is continuing--at least for William Fichtner.

The actor who played a creepy sheriff in the canceled ABC sci-fi series Invasion is stepping into the role of a federal agent in Fox's Prison Break. Fichtner's character will hunt down Michael and Lincoln (Wentworth Miller and Dominic Purcell) in season two of the hit action-drama.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Fichtner's dance card is full. The actor is starring in an upcoming DreamWorks film titled Blades of Glory, and the Prison Break production had to postpone filming while they waited for him to finish working on the movie.

On Invasion, Fichtner starred as Sheriff Tom Underlay, a human who may or may not have been taken over by an alien race called The Hybrids. The show landed last season in the time slot behind hit Lost, but never attained the ratings ABC wanted. The final episode of the season, a cliffhanger, was filmed befor the network made a decision to cancel the show.

Prison Break was a surprise hit in its freshman season, premiering in August of last year. After a four-month hiaitus, the show returned in the time slot preceding 24, giving Fox a powerful block of Monday shows.

The conspiracy thriller ended the season with the titular break from the big house, and season two involves a nationwide manhunt for the two heroes.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH TeamTREK ROFL LOL ROFL

you tell that tard whos boss!

stupid tard cant read anyways

I liked invasion & Prison Rape but it was obvious to me at the start Invasion would get cancelled because it starred Cole from Sunset Beach and any show he's been in since then has got cancelled in its first season LOL

They should bring back Sunset Beach LOL its was funny as hell while stoned. they could even add the storyline of Aliens trying to take over Sunset Beach as this would bring back invasion and its something totally belivable for a Sunset Beach storyline

bbrimacombe, you smart ass, it doesn't say Prison Break premiered preceding 24. It said that after the 4 month hiatus the show returned preceding 24 on Mondays.
Thanks for making me add another no-point-comment.

bbrimacombe, ur a tard. mentioning fallacies in the article has no point in being on the comments board. neither does this rant however, invasion was a quality show (i believe) and prison break was a little better in my opinion, however im happy william fichtner is joining the cast. if he can command a small town sheriff role like he did on invasion, he should have no trouble easily becoming a top-notch character on a heavily character driven suspense thriller show such as prison break.

Prison Break did not premiere preceding 24. It had a 2 hour premiere on August 29th 2005 and 24 did not start its new season until January 15th 2006.

This is great news. I loved Invasion and was gutted when I heard it wasn't continuing for a second series, so I'm glad that William (who is one of the best characters in Invasion and also a GREAT actor - he's really talented) is joining Prison Break, as it is also one of my most favourite shows ever!!!!

I'm so conflicted. Prison Break and Invasion were my favorite new shows of the season. While I love that he will be joining the cast of Prison Break, it saddens me that there is even smaller hope of Invasion returning (if it were to be picked up by another network).

THIS is wonderful news.
William Fitcher was just great as the sheriff in Invasion. I have been so angry at ABC for cancelling that show.

As it turns out...I did watch Prison Break this year and William will be an excellent addition to some very good actors on that show, too.
I am delighted that some network picked this fine actor up. His star should be rising.
Fitcher is very, very talented.
