The Invasion is continuing--at least for William Fichtner.
The actor who played a creepy sheriff in the canceled ABC sci-fi series Invasion is stepping into the role of a federal agent in Fox's Prison Break. Fichtner's character will hunt down Michael and Lincoln (Wentworth Miller and Dominic Purcell) in season two of the hit action-drama.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, Fichtner's dance card is full. The actor is starring in an upcoming DreamWorks film titled Blades of Glory, and the Prison Break production had to postpone filming while they waited for him to finish working on the movie.
On Invasion, Fichtner starred as Sheriff Tom Underlay, a human who may or may not have been taken over by an alien race called The Hybrids. The show landed last season in the time slot behind hit Lost, but never attained the ratings ABC wanted. The final episode of the season, a cliffhanger, was filmed befor the network made a decision to cancel the show.
Prison Break was a surprise hit in its freshman season, premiering in August of last year. After a four-month hiaitus, the show returned in the time slot preceding 24, giving Fox a powerful block of Monday shows.
The conspiracy thriller ended the season with the titular break from the big house, and season two involves a nationwide manhunt for the two heroes.
