Finances may cut Sarah Silverman short

No money? Poop.

Comedy Central's The Sarah Silverman Program may not be for everyone (I find it hilarious), but soon, it may not be for anyone at all. The network has asked the show's producers to trim the budget by almost a fifth for the yet-to-be-greenlit third season, and the producers have fired back by threatening to quit.

Lead Sarah Silverman, Dan Sterling, and Rob Schrab serve as executive producers on the comedy, and are putting the clamps on Comedy Central bosses with the move, saying that the show's quality won't meet their expectations with the loss of the cash. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Comedy Central execs asked producers to trim the show's budget from season two's $1.1 million per episode to $850,000 per episode.

The two sides are apparently in the middle of a standoff, with a resolution expected to happen soon.

Wow, our economy must be in bad shape if there's a chance that Steve Agee and Brian Posehn may not be able to make fart jokes on television anymore.
