First Cancellation of the Season! CBS Pulls Made In Jersey After Two Episodes

First the Nets leave New Jersey, then Jersey Shore returns to disappointing ratings, and now CBS's Made in Jersey has been canceled. Jersey Pride is taking a beating.

CBS has made the first awkward phone call of the 2012 fall season, pulling Made in Jersey from its schedule effective immediately. The legal drama about a street-smart lawyer from New York's jealous cousin has been airing on Friday nights at 9pm; last Friday marked the series' second episode. Made in Jersey actually won the hour in total viewers with its last episode by drawing 6.78 million viewers. But it still had that CBS problem and finished fourth with just a 0.8 rating in the adult demo. Hey, at least it beat a Hart of Dixie repeat!

This bloodshed is the first of what has been a kinder, gentler opening month of the new fall season. Five shows (NBC's Go On, The New Normal, and Revolution and Fox's The Mindy Project and Ben and Kate) have all been given full-season orders.

Made in Jersey's 9pm timeslot will go to CSI: NY, which slides back an hour from hour. Undercover Boss will take over the vacated Friday-at-8pm slot when it returns for Season 4 on November 2.

If you're participating in our Dead Pool, this news is a bit of an upset—Friday shows are usually given a longer leash, as poor ratings come with the territory. Made in Jersey will be worth 11 points (two episodes aired, so it's 13 – 2 = 11). No, I did not have it as one of my picks and I'm pretty bummed about it. But now it's so obvious! Arghhhh! I mean, CBS let A Gifted Man rot for months before it got canceled in the same time slot last year!

Other shows that are likely candidates for cancellation include Fox's The Mob Doctor, CBS's Partners, and NBC's Guys With Kids.

Did anyone here watch Made in Jersey?

They should have given Made in Jersey a chance! Cute show better than all the lousy reality shows!

I thought it had potential. Certainly more than most of the other trash.

They should have left it run. Hey, CBS, how about you let us watch the rest of the season on Amazon Prime? I'll even watch your commercials if you let me see the rest of the shows. deal?

They dumped CSI: Miami, the best of the CSIs, for this crummy show and they dump it after two weeks. CBS is turning in to NBC. I remember reading about the decision to pick this up in place of CSI: Miami and a CBS executive said they wanted an all New York set of programs. She should be fired NOW!

Networks should be made to give shows at least until the holiday break before PULLING the plug!!!!

I didn't love it but it wasn't bad. I'll miss it.

Watched it... It was quirky... Was watchable compared to some other shows. Guess the brass didn't like the numbers.

Just wondering: if it's been pulled after two episodes why does your site show it screening the third episode tonight???

Didn't watch it, but it actually looked decent. I have them on my DVR, and I wouldn't have been surprised either way. Two Broke Girls (boobs, I have to say that) and Whitney came back, so I thought it would at least meet that bar.

I did watch Ben and Kate, though. Good Lord, smite that goddamn show and salt the earth. Someone must've thought we couldn't handle the hilarity of shows like Up All Night, and they wanted to ease us into the funny so gently we wouldn't feel it...ever. Ever.

Ever.

Nailed it! It was also on my list, I had not heard about it until it was on the TV.com list.

Boom, called it. It was on my list from the beginning, it had bad promos which usually means the network doesn't understand it (or they do and it's terrible), it had a lame premise, and it just looked cheap.

The Mob Doctor? On my list. Partners? On my list. Guys With Kids? NO LONGER ON MY LIST FOR SOME REASON!!! Goddamn NBC so unpredictable that when they started handing out early pickups to junk I swapped it with The Neighbors thinking ABC couldn't find an audience for something that high-concept. Animal Practice should also be close to death, and I pulled it off my list for the same reason (exchanging it for Chicago Fire which looked too pricey and schlocky to keep an audience).

I made it through 3 minutes of "Ben and Kate" yesterday before I turned it off, deleted the episode and removed it from my DVR scheduler. What a total piece of garbage. And "Partners" too. Ugh!

I didn't have it among my picks either! and I hope Partners makes it instead

It sounded like an MTV reality show so I did miss it by sheer purpose.

Made In Jersey was on my list, but I'm not confident in my chances: two of my picks already got full-season pickups. Curse NBC for not having standards!

I watched, just giving it the four-episode test, but it wasn't very good. It should've at least been funny, but it really wasn't. I liked the main actress though. Anyway, Partners is much worse than this show (aside from Sophia Bush), so it needs to be cancelled. Today! Or maybe even yesterday!

Oh yeah, that was in my deadpool - happy dancing.....lol.

I just saw the second episode last night. Did they recast all but the lead lawyer? What happened to the guy that was last on A Gifted Man playing the spiritualist and the blonde who only does acting jobs as a lawyer? Also, the niece seemed to have disappeared, but that could simply be the character was out with friends or something. Poor Kristoffer Polaha - Every show he's on gets canceled and this was his first episode. It lost a bit of energy from the first episode too, which I thought was bit too much then, as they tried cramming everything in. Her accent, or attempt at it, was more pronounced also. In a way, it was like a different, more scaled back, but duller show.

Although I am a believer in counting overall ratings over the 18-49 demo, which should have sustained it to give it a chance to develop, this show may have properly been put out of its oncoming misery, as I do not think it would have improved much. I was willing to give it one more shot, but...

I'm from NJ and I have to say that I don't care about the Nets, the embarrassing Jersey Shore or Made in Jersey. I wasn't even tempted to watch it lol Still have my Jersey Pride, though lol

YES! That was on my dead pool :D

I have that as my tie breaker on my dead pool does it still count?

I nominated this one as well as "Guys with Kids". Unfortunately I also picked "Revolution" which survived the cut ;-)

I'm already down four points because of this and the New Normal. If Animal Practice gets picked up, I'm done for.

Come to think of it, three of my five picks are on NBC. Is there anyone in charge at that network?

So glad I decided to put it back on my list at the last minute. No hopefully Partners, Guys With Kids, The Neighbors and Mob Doctor follow.

Why wouldn't CBS just cancel Partners at the same time? Damn it, it'll probably be another week and therefore another episode before Partners is axed.

NBC - hurry up and get cancelling so we can learn what spot Community will take.

Made in Jersey was on my Dead Pool. I couldn't even bring myself to hate watch one episode - and I'll watch pretty much anything.

Yey. I had it in my deadpool. Although it's sad for the people who work on that show.

is it only worth 11 points if you chose that it would be the first to go or just chose that it would be one to go? new to this. anyway i had it. also is there a "winner" or anything like that and if so they win anything? just curious. fairly certain the ones you listed are also on my list. my tie breaker is scary though, no idea what the slot means but it's last resort which i don't want to see end but know is potentially at risk unfortunately. would much rather have it not canceled than win the deadpool.

Go read the rules on the Dead Pool page - it explains the scoring in detail. The link to the Dead Pool is in the text above.

First of all, let me say that woman is very beautiful. she must get another show quickly. Second, I read the tv.com review of the Made in Jersey pilot and it was hilarious, but then much worse shows have lasted much longer so who would've guessed? third, I can only imagine how devastating it lust be for all the people involved in a show to get a cancelation notice after just two episodes aired. All the work they must've had for several months before the show first aired comes to nothing. Showbizz is crueler than real-life Hunger Games...

Well... hopefully all your likely candidate picks get cancelled FAST cuz they are all on my Deadpool list-- I bumped Made in Jersey off in favor of Partners :( It got okay ratings! Dang you, CBS.
Reply

Don't worry, Partners will probably be off soon. It's on my Deadpool (as was Made in Jersey).

Aw man.....I hadn't even heard of this, so how could I vote for it? Deadpool shattered.

Wasn't on my deadpool list because there were so many other stinkers to pick from and I thought CBS would at least let it run 6-9 episodes. Oh well.

My only other regret is that I didn't get to see more episodes of Partners or Animal Practice before deciding on choices. Animal Practice has been getting funnier and Partners has yet to make me laugh. Given the opportunity, I'd take Animal Practice off and put Partners on there.

I agree that Animal Practice is getting funnier. I didn't like the pilot, but I've been warming up to the series after each new episode. Of course, I'm just setting myself up for disappointment because I'm sure of it's cancellation. It was the first show I decided to put on my Deadpool list.

It was my second pick after Guys with Kids, but monkey power may just get it another season. At this point I'd be fine with sacrificing my deadpool for that, though I'd cede the contest entirely if Last Resort got good enough ratings for a renewal.

I didn't have it in my deadpool, but I definitely was considering it. Meh, consideration doesn't count, huh?

Yes, had it in my deadpool, but unfortunately also had ben and kate...
