ABC is no stranger to flash-forwards, thanks to the time-traveling hit Lost, but now the network is really getting into them. The drama Flash Forward has received an early pickup of 13 episodes, says The Hollywood Reporter.
In Flash Forward, everyone in the world simultaneously loses consciousness for 2 minutes and 17 seconds. During the blackout, people have visions of six months into the future. Joseph Fiennes stars in the show, which is based on a novel by author Robert J. Sawyer.
The pickup isn't a big surprise, as Flash Forward has already been promoted on ABC during an episode of Lost. In a series of short spots (which can be seen below), a tiny image of an event--say, for example, a couple kissing at a wedding or a man surfing--appeared on a black screen for a second, then words popped up asking "What did you see?"
Viral marketers, you have my attention! Expect a formal announcement of pickup and timeslot from ABC at next week's upfronts.
