Call it a monumental step forwards for U.S.-Canadian relations: CBS has renewed the Canadian-produced drama Flashpoint for another round, ensuring that all of our friends north of the border remain safe -- at least on television. Meanwhile, Showtime has opted to let David Duchovny continue his sexcapades and misadventures with a fourth season of Californication.
The future of Flashpoint -- which is co-funded by CBS to bring down costs -- had been uncertain in the States. (Canada's CTV had already requested another run.) The series follows a tactical team that serves as a Swiss Army Knife for fixing anything that goes wrong -- from ticking time bombs to gang violence to a hockey brawl that spills into the streets. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Season Three of Flashpoint has a current order of 13 episodes. Specifics on an air date are still fuzzy, though the show will air "later this season."
Over on Showtime, rampant sex and swift blows to Hank Moody's testicles will continue with the announcement of a fourth-season pickup of Californication. The adult comedy just began its third season and premiered to series-high numbers, making the decision to renew it fairly easy.

I am hoping that Flashpoint will return. I have not seen it on CBS since last season. Is this coming back in 2010???

I'm in the process of dealing with a gigglefit thanks to the caption under the Flashpoint pic. Flashbpoint's actually airing Fridays right now on CTV, I wonder if these are the episodes CBS will be airing later this season. Also, I'm glad to hear we're getting another season of Californication, hopefully David Duchovny gets some Emmy recognition soon! Hank Moody rules.
