Forever Will Live On With a Full-Season Order, But Selfie Will Be Deleted from ABC's Lineup

Fine! I was wrong! I admit it. All my predictions that Forever would be canceled very soon were way off, as ABC has given the supernatural-ish procedural a full-season order, according to Entertainment Weekly.

However, Selfie wasn't so lucky. The way-too-easy-to-predict cancellation of the modern My Fair Lady comedy is upon us, as ABC has opted not to order any more episodes, says EW again

The network has awarded the standard back nine pickup to Forever, which means the drama's Season 1 episode count will total 22 episodes. More importantly, it means that, just like its immortal crime-solving protagonist, Forever won't die just yet. This news has made TV.com's own Kaitlin Thomas incredibly happy—her first response to the announcement, and I quote, was "SUCK IT, TIM"—but you can't blame me for believing that Forever would get buried for good. The show's ratings have been pretty lousy, with the most recent episode (which aired Tuesday) picking up just a 1.1 in the 18-to-49 demographic and fewer than five million viewers, putting it in last place for the night. But hey, this wacky television season is super unpredictable.

As for Selfie, well, the writing was pretty much on the wall when ABC decided to air two new episodes per week of the Karen Gillan and John Cho sitcom after canceling its timeslot-mate Manhattan Love Story. It's essentially a burn-off situation, as ABC is whisking it off the air as soon as possible, but we're still waiting to find out whether ABC will air all 13 episodes of Selfie's original order (like NBC is doing with A to Z and Bad Judge) or whether it will use the Tuesday-night real estate to air a repeat of something else. Regardless, Selfie's demise is a bit of a shame, as the show actually came around to being one of the season's better network comedies. Seriously!

I really only regularly watch two regular shows on TV, Castle and Forever. Not surprisingly, they both have the same concept of NYC detective and a unique 'advisor' to solve cases. What is so enjoyable to watch is they both have good chemistry between the lead characters. The characters don't always agree, but 'realize'(written that way) the other person brings a unique perspective.

One thing that has hurt the following of Forever, is ABC will skip 1 or 2 weeks, filling in with other programming, and then have a new episode, so you don't know when it will be on. I was never a big rerun fan, but now I see how it keeps the viewers coming back to watch a show, plus prior to the internet, it let you catch up on missed episodes - now the online version let's you see those shows.

Another thing is common with these shows is the age of the characters, (not counting Dr. Morgan of course), and that they are generally more than the 20 somethings seen or portrayed on so many other shows. Just nice to see characters of a mature age for a change.

Our entire family (ages 22-65) watch this show together - this is the same family that can't unanimously decide on ANYTHING - not even dinner. Forever deserves at least season 2...could go on and on! Loads of potential.

I had to binge watch before I loved it. I have no idea why it is not getting better ratings. I agree with the Suck it Tim. He has been talking the show down since the 10th episode. Is there some weird reason when reviewers do not like a show that it has to die. Not all shows have to rely on nudity and gruesome violence to make it.

Forever is by far the best new show to me, and I watch way too many shows. Both Ioan Gruffudd and Alana De La Garza are amazing. This is the first time I watch a show with Alana, and I can't get enough of her. As for Ioan, what's to say, he is simply amazing and as Dr. Henry Morgan he is a new Sherlock Holmes with a vastly better background story :)

Forever should stay on TV forever. It is one of the best shows on TV.

If they do cancel it, I hope they at least give the show a decent ending and not leave people hanging. This is one of the main reasons I won't watch much mainstream t.v. Too many disappointments when you really get into a show. To me, this is one of the best shows out there. Would hate to see it go.

Why would they cancel Forever? It's one of the best shows out there. Would you guys quit wasting your time with ratings no one even watches regular TV I don't even have cable. I have been using the internet since 2009 for all my shows. How about a customer vote?

I am thinking about canceling my cable and just use the internet. I Love "Forever". I watch it online after I see it on cable. It just leaves you with such a "warm fuzzy feeling".

I really enjoy Forever, but I can understand why ABC is unlikely to renew it if the ratings just aren't justifying a renewal. That said, I'm contiinuing to watch and holding out hope that they will at least resolve the major storylines that they've created for this season. I always really hate (like, *REALLY* hate, pathologically loathe, even) it when a network cancels a show before it's even had a chance to tell the story that the series was going to tell. A full season is certainly enough time to do that, though, so as I said, I'm hopeful.

I Love Selfie.....Sad and upset that i wont find out if tha two ever get together---it may not be a new story line but it has a modern day twist to it.

The show tells a story about social retardation from two different point of views so many can relate.......tha self-centered individual or tha loner that knows how to blend in. We spend most of our time with technology and the show reveals that, it just also shows us a way to #Disconnect and get back to reality.

Forever has rapidly become my most looked forward to US television series after The Mentalist.

Good stories, well acted and a cast worth investing some emotion in.

Just wish the bean counters at ABC would realise that pretty much everyone who watches the show, loves it to bits and it should get a second season nod.

Forever wasn't on my list of shows I was getting excited about, based on the trailers I saw, but I gave it a chance and it was a shock to see how entertaining it is.

Ioan Gruffudd is a solid actor. I know that the FF4 movies he did weren't all the great, but that's more due to the writing and directing than the casting.

I was a bit ambivalent about Jessica Alba's casting, she was the weak link. And the first movie had to have a freakin' love triangle of some sort with Doom, Mr. Fantastic and Invisible Girl.

FF4 2 was also pretty weak on the story line. But it doesn't take away Ioan's acting abilities. And in this show, he's found something which will more than likely last for quite a while.

I wonder if they will crossover with other shows, say like.. Castle for example? It would be so cool as they are both shows which uses NY as their main city!

I'm totally bummed about Selfie being cancelled. I actually like the show. It's quirky but absolutely hilarious. I hate to see it go. I hope that another network picks it up. #imightevengetcableiftheydo #lol

I really liked Karen Gillan on Doctor Who, so I decided to check out her new show, Selfie. I wasn't really convinced at first but then I got hooked. I enjoyed seeing Karen play Eliza but I was taken back by John Cho. He played Henry (and a leading man) wonderfully. Henry quickly became my favorite character. The minor characters were great, too. I've watched the remaining episodes on the Watch ABC app and each episode is better than the last.
I hope this isn't really the end for Selfie and gets picked up by another network.

Forever started for me as a clone of New Amsterdam, which I liked a lot, but it has come into its own and has great supporting actors. Glad it didn't die yet.

I didn't watch Selfie but I'm a big fan of John Cho and i'm so disappointed bc he's brilliant and he keeps being casted in shows that are cancelled or he's killed off in promising ones! Like sleepy hollow for example!! wasn't he in flash forward back then? i loved that show! and i got cancelled too! i hope he gets cast in something amazing either small or big screen and he finally starts getting the recognition he deserves. Love him!!! Wish him the best. And forever is AWESOME so psyched!

I am gutted about Selfie. This is one of those shows that looks like light-hearted fun on the outside but actually speaks to some deeper underlying issues - and I don't mean it's commentary on the perils of social media (that's just a smoke-screen) I mean the (wonderful) relationship between Eliza and Henry as two socially isolated people at opposite ends of the scale - the commoner and the snob. Eliza remade herself to fit in, whereas Henry learnt to blend in and say all the right things but both remain aloof from others. I'm hoping that yahoo or blinkbox or some other media format that isn't beholden to ratings over quality will swoop in at the last minute and save it.

I hope they air all 13 of Selfie and that it plays out the whole Pygmalion storyline so that there is some kind of resolution. I quite like they show, but I do think that a fully-arched single season is the way it should go. I would have to have the love story dragged out or ripped apart in all honesty.

I wanted to ask if Kaitlin if she knows or not: do the men in Forever have a quota on how much eye-liner they have to wear and how heavy it should be? Do they know that they are not on a physical stage but in front of a camera? I'm just poking fun... kind of. I really do think they should tone down on the make-up a bit. Glad the show is renewed. It's a bit too campy for me to buy into any serious dilemmas or drama the characters face, aside from the obvious tension and sometimes heart-wrending crises presented by a son who's going to die of old age while the father who adopted him remains physically a lot younger.

As for Selfie, that's potentially two or three now on my deadpool list! Thank you!!

So happy about forever ! i only hope there is no aliens involved with immortality, like every time Henry and 2000 years old evil dude dies and maybe others , they are re-made in alien unnamed automatic spacecraft which is underwater somewhere..... and all their dead bodies are stored in chambers on alien ship. That would explain where dead bodies vanishes . Aliens using Henry and others as probes to explorer and learn more about earth and humans. So it would be impossible for Henry to kill that evil 2000 years old evil man unless he uses some kind drugs to go near dead experience for very long period so he can wake up in alien ship and destroy it doing so - blowing up him self but luckily alien ship re-makes/re-clone Henry one last time. And last season or end of series Henry will need to learn how to live with mortality again.

Henry Morgan & Duncan Macleod are my favorite tv imortals, and my favorite 200years old Icobat Crane , Henry Morgam and Spock... Buck Rodgers 500 years :D dont know more

I'm not surprised with the full season pick up of Forever and the cancellation of Selfie but I have to admit, I was starting to like Selfie. Romantic(?) comedies are not my thing but this show was starting to shape into something good and really funny. The sad part is that probably we will never get to see if Henry get to eat Eliza's cookie...

Is this show Forever going to be cancel after first season, or is it going to get a second season and maybe run forever, or not.
But I don't see the reason to watch a show that was supposed to last more than a season, maybe forever, and now it seems it´s going to be just one season. It means the writers end up making up some kind of closure and improvising some finale that makes no sense. Because Forever was supposed to run forever.
