Former The Bachelor and Bachelor Pad Contestant Gia Allemand Is Dead at Age 29

Steel yourself for the latest sad news about someone you've seen on TV dying young. Gia Allemand, a former contestant on The Bachelor (Season 14, with Jake Pavelka) and both seasons of Bachelor Pad, died Wednesday at University Hospital in New Orleans. The former model was 29.

Allemand was admitted to the hospital in critical condition Monday after an undisclosed "serious emergency medical event," according to TMZ, which is now reporting that the cause of death was suicide. Allemand's mother as well as her longtime boyfriend, Ryan Anderson of the New Orleans Pelicans, were with her when she died.

We'll update this story as more details emerge.

Please be sensitive when posting. Understanding why people choose suicide is very hard. It takes a compassionate and loving view. If you or someone you know is struggling, try to read the book, When The Devil Visits dot com. This lady lost four family members to suicide and she a unique perspective.

RIP.This is among the worst deaths, especially if she was a religious person, which I wouldn't know. I am very saddened.

I just meant that suicides do not reach heaven and this is an especially hard decision to take if one is religious. Btw, I do not smoke and am a teetotaler.

I never thought this post would bring such a reaction. And Marie Laure, there are substantial studies made by extremely serious people, like Elizabeth Kubler-Ross and Ian Watson for instance, over several decades, of life after death. Whether these are the product of culture, spirituality or even brain deterioration at time of death can be discussed. But to deny these studies is just ridiculous and I am sorry to say, narrow minded, which I am sure you are not.

I'd rather go to hell, if heaven is filled with condescending a-holes like you!

God is a very forgiving father. Don't be fooled by the religious propaganda that they brainwash you in church with, most of that is the writings of the Catholic church to replace the true scripts because the true scripts did not give them all the power and riches they wanted

people dying = sad
suicide = sad
Again, it's the family and friends who suffer the most and my heart goes out to anyone suffering from the death of a loved one.

They're saying she killed herself before of her relationship with her boyfriend... how about breaking up, girl?

That's a shame, really. Still... RIP.

That's the thing with mental illness. You can't make logical decisions because your brain is damaged in some way.

Stephen Fry, a British actor, has tried to commit suicide multiple times because he has bipolar disorder. I think he explains suicide in the best way.

"You may say, How can anybody who's got it all be so stupid as to want to end it all? That's the point, there is no 'why?' That's not the right question. There is no reason. If there was reason for it, you could reason someone out of it."

RIP Gia
