Fox affiliate alters schedule to rattle visiting NFL team

To borrow from Sports Illustrated, file this under "This Week's Sign of the Apocalypse." Baseball may be America's pastime, but at this time of the year, all eyes are on the gridiron. And when it comes to football in Wisconsin, you just don't mess with the Green Bay Packers.

Fox 11 in Wisconsin is taking football fandom to the next level this weekend by actually changing its programming--not to air a sports event, that wouldn't be out of the ordinary--in order to shake up an opposing team's player.

The New York Giants visit the Green Bay Packers this Sunday to play for the NFC Championship and a spot in the Super Bowl, and the local Fox affiliate is doing what it can to gain a competitive edge. The station will not air its regularly scheduled Seinfeld repeat because the comedy is the favorite show of Giants quarterback Eli Manning.

"We do not want to give any comfort to the enemy when they come into town," said Jay Zollar, general manager of Fox 11. "We heard that...[one of Eli Manning's] favorite television shows is Seinfeld...so we decided to pull Seinfeld from the schedule."

Better pack your Slingbox, Eli.

Hmmm...I don't think it worked. Maybe next time you should run an all night Seinfeld marathon. That way he doesn't get enough sleep for the game.

It wasn't for WLUK-TV "FOX 11" of Green Bay & The FOX Cities, WI... "Seinfeld" is suspended right after the Super Bowl and I think it'll return after The Super Bowl.

TBS should run Seinfeld episodes all night...use it as a marketing gimmick.

Watch out football fans. Without his daily dose of Vitamin Kramer, Eli Manning will be worked into an unimaginable rage and his New York football Giants will slaughter the Green Gay (that's right) Packers so completely, that your TV will definitely explode.

    OMG....how pathetic can you get?

I know some places love their team, but...seriously, what the Hell? Is this supposed to make Eli play terribly or something? You really think he's going to be thinking about the Seinfeld episode he missed while he's taking snaps in the game?

GB's just scared because of the 9-1 road record the G-Men have and they want to mess with that ANY way they can, including changing their programming around and not airing the visiting quarterback's favorite show. Who does that?

I'm from WI and am the biggest GB Packer fan, but this is just ridiculously stupid. We're going to beat the NY G-girls, no matter what Eli "hey bro wanna make another commercial" Manning watches.
