Fox enjoys All-Star Game sellout

Fox Sports said Thursday that it had sold out its commercial inventory for Major League Baseball's All-Star Game.

Industry sources said it's been a good year for Fox Sports, which commanded an average $375,000 per 30-second spot for the game, up 7 percent from the $350,000 it got last year. Fox would only say that it got mid- to high-single digit CPM (cost-per-thousand) increases.

Making substantial commitments to the telecast are MLB corporate sponsors General Motors, Anheuser-Busch, Taco Bell, and Pepsi, as well as pre- and postgame sponsor Chevrolet. New to the team are Holiday Inn and Nestle. Other sponsors include Johnson & Johnson, Flomax, Exxon-Mobil, and AOL.

Meanwhile, with 11 weeks of the season left to go, Fox Sports has sold 90 percent of its inventory for its regular-season Saturday telecasts--at a pace ahead of last season, according to Fox.

This year's All-Star Game will take place at PNC Park in Pittsburgh on Tuesday. Again this year, Fox sibling network FSN and Chevrolet will televise the all-star game Red Carpet Special at 7 p.m. Tuesday. It will be hosted by Best Damn Sports Show Period hosts Chris Rose, Rob Dibble, and Leeann Tweeden along with Orioles and former Red Sox first baseman Kevin Millar.
