Of all the new shows debuting this fall season, the freshman program with the best chance of getting a full-season pickup was Fox's Fringe. With its army of big-name producers (J.J. Abrams, Bob Orci, Alex Kurtzman, Bryan Burk), enough marketing to make Fringe a household name before it even aired, and a time slot behind House, Fringe was in good hands.
So it's no surprise that Fox announced today that it has given Fringe a full-season order. The network has opted to order nine more episodes of the show, which brings its first-season total to 22. Fringe joins The CW's 90210 as the only big network shows to receive full-season orders so far.
Aside from a slightly disappointing start, Fringe's numbers have been good, and the drama has been the number-one new show for the prized 18-49 adult demographic. Total viewer stats have also increased slightly.
"We're having a blast working on this show with this great team of producers and amazing cast," said Fox chief Kevin Reilly. "The series has really taken off creatively, and it's exciting to see that the audience is responding. We believe this is the first full season of many years to come."
Fringe follows a trio of unlikely partners as they work for the government investigating unexplained phenomena. Each weekly case is based on "fringe science," the branch of almost-science that is on the verge of breakthroughs. Joshua Jackson, Anna Torv, John Noble, and Lance Reddick star.
Fringe airs Tuesday nights at 9 p.m., and don't forget--you can watch full episodes right here on TV.com or check out our boatloads of Fringe coverage.

Nice! I'm excited that this sometimes controversial show (with many brilliant drug references) is being picked up for a full season. Maybe it'll stay popular for a season 2.
Wonderful news. The characters on this show are just the perfect mix of crazy and brilliant.
Brilliant news! very glad to hear that we'll see an entire season of this "promising" show.
Very good news!!!!
yay, im glad the show got picked up. i think the show has great charcters and a fairly intisive story line.

i wish they would get rid of prison break thats what fox should do
I'm surprised that this show would be okay and Terminator might be getting the ax. This show has failed to really grab my attention in a genre to which I'm more favorable torwards. And Terminator has gripped me from the get-go. *sigh*
That's good news. I get tired of watching two or three shows and then hearing the show has been canceled. I personally think leaving it on Tuesday nights is just fine. I also get tired of the networks moving shows to different days and times just because they can. If it's not broken, don't fix it.
Good news, Still a little backed up on my TIVO, show have only seen the pilot and 2nd ep, but looks pretty good so far.
Cool. It has potential. And is starting to get a little better with each episode. I'm looking forward to the possibilites
That's good. As mentioned it did have a shaky start. The first half of the Pilot was pretty bad and confusing but after that I found the final half was interesting and built up nicely. Can't wait to see how the season progresses. *fingers crossed*
Shows pretty good but don't know that it's found it's stride yet. This gives it a chance at least.
Yeah! It had a rocky premiere but it keeps getting better. My whole family looks forward to the next dose of Walter.
Yay! I love Fringe. Peter is so lovely. And crazy guys make me happy.
I think fringe is way cool and with Terminator:TSCC going down the toet i think they should move this show to monday nights....
it makes sense, no?

the episode on tuesday was the best yet
Yes, this show is okay
I am so glad that Fox is giving Fringe the opportunity to get even better than it is now, excellent news that we get a whole season of Walter-isms!!
Glad to see the show given the opportunity to grow and develop. I think that the first few episodes were interesting and look forward to seeing how the storyline develops.
Great news, the show is getting better!
Wonderful news. I love this show and waiting for new episodes every week. Glad to know we have full season :)
I am glad they decided to order more episodes. The future looks bright for Fringe.
Cool Love the show!
That is great news! Thank you FOX! Thank you all for watching!
Good News... this show definitely deserves a full season.
Awesome. Fringe is great.
Cool! I love Fringe, it's really interesting and unlike most shows.
caitfate - Gilmore Girls is sooo boring. Most people stop watching it after season 3. Those who have sense anyway. Gossip Girl is really good, mostly because of Chuck. It is a lot like Cruel Intentions. Go evil people!
Ok...Fox got something right for a change. I'm really looking forward to watching this show and seeing the twisted plot unfold. Hopefully it's not as tangled up as Lost or Alias. Now, what the heck is the CW thinking? They should take all these sexed-up teenager series off the air and make a show that has the same essence, charisma, charm, humor, intellectual wit, and all-around good felling-ness as the Gilmore Girls.
now lets hope they do the same with Dollhouse.
Go Fringe! Go.
Oh Sweet! I new this was coming but wanted to make sure. Fringe wipes the floor with X-files related shows. This Show is at the top of my favorites.
great news..at least fox got one thing right...and as for watching eps right here..cant do that..im in Canada
This show definitley deserved a full season pick up.
WTG Fox
I'm glad it's getting a full season, now let's hope they can keep the stories more interesting and little action wouldn't hurt either.
Outstanding news! Fox is finally taking a page out of the NBC book!
No surprise here.Fringe is great and as stated has a number of famous producers behind it.The show has a bright future ahead.
Fantastic news! That'll show the naysayers... Fringe just gets better amd better. :D
This is a great show. X-Files/Dr Seuss/Lost/Tim Burton. Great mix of weird & wacky.
To Ashs911:
What? 90210 has yet to slip below 3 million viewers.
Great news for Fringe, although it was bound to happen so I wasn't suprised.I bet CW are kicking themselves over 90210 now who's ratings have slipped below 2 Million.
This makes me so happy. I absolutely adore this shows creativity and cast. Thanks Fox!
Well, it's always good if Fox actually sticks with a show and I am really ready to like Fringe but so far I am just moderately entertained. Too much oh so mysterious conspiracy crap behind the actually interesting storylines of the week. Guess I am getting jaded by watching too much tv.
Wow... Fox actually picked up a full season of a good show instead of canning it? Is this even possible?
FINALLY a Fox installment that's here to stay! Unlike DRIVE.
