Fox juggles lineup

Fox's Don't Forget the Lyrics! experiment is proving to be one of the network's best moves, as the karaoke-style competition is hitting the right tune with viewers.

The show has muscled its way into Fox's fall lineup as part of a newly minted game show night, following the antics of Jeff Foxworthy and schoolchildren in the quiz show Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader? Both hour-long shows will air on Thursday nights, with 5th Grader taking the 8 p.m. slot.

Adding Lyrics to the lineup caused a chain reaction with the rest of Fox's schedule. Moving out of the Thursday slot will be Kitchen Nightmares, the reality-based restaurant show starring celeb chef Gordon Ramsay. Viewers will now have Nightmares on Wednesdays at 9 p.m, bumping Bones over to Tuesdays at 8 p.m.

This leads to the biggest change of all. The odd man out is New Amsterdam, a new drama set to premiere this fall. The show, which follows a New York City homicide detective blessed/cursed with immortality, will now be held back until midseason.

The revised Fox fall lineup is below:

NEW AMSTERDAM WAS AWESOME! I AM ALREADY HOOKED.....WHY WOULD THEY TAKE IT OFF? IT'S MUCH BETTER THAN ANY OF THOSE REALITY SHOWS, WHICH I DON'T WATCH, AND WONT WATCH. COME ON FOX, GET IT TOGETHER... READ WHAT THE PEOPLE ARE SAYING!

Hey guys,

Is Bones really going to be put on pause until Jan?

if so, why? i think december is one of the busiest months of the year, entertainment wise, so it is only wise to keep up with the competition.

:-(

Don't you think that the scandal over this show might have something to do with the bump as well. The fact that this show is a complete ripoff of the Peter Hamill book 'Forever' and that a lawsuit might be pending might have contributed to the mid-season move.

JSharpe_187 - That's because it IS. The networks rarely create anything new, and once someone creates anything remotely successful, everyone jumps on the bandwagon. Don't be surprised if CBS or NBC will come up with something like "Can you insult like a Third Grader?" or "Can you mope like a teenager?" or something.

Watching FOX is like swimming in the shallow end of the gene pool.

Bones and House together again, the way it always should have been.

"Don't Forget The Lyrics" sounds an awful lot like "The Singing Bee" on NBC...

I have a feeling New Amsterdam won't make it ratings wise in midseason compared to the fall when more people want to check out new shows.

Bumping a scripted show in favor of a "reality" show is ridiculous. TAKE OFF ALL REALITY SHOWS FOREVER. THEY ARE CRAP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Right on Fox! They figured out this show only works in a one hour format. Not to mention putting the only two shows I watch on the network together on Tuesday. Sorry to hear about New Amsterdam, but you know if its scifi and its any good Fox will cancel it in the first 5 episode run. Seriously, I'm taking bets.

Who watches all these ridiculous reality shows?? They keep getting big ratings but I personally don't know a single person that admits to watching them. I smell a conspiracy to deprive viewers of intelligent shows!

I'm very disappointed with this schedule change. I was really looking forward to the start of New Amsterdam.

Big mistake removing New Amsterdam to midseason, I agree with KevinG87, it's similar to Moonlight and would have done awesome Tuesday nights.

Okay, seriously, you need to be faster with these news... I read this 7 DAYS AGO.

that's crap, get rid of the reality shows! New Amsterdam wouldn't have had any kind of rivalry on Tuesdays at 8/7c, but now they're moving it to midseason at Fridays at 9/8c.. that's going against CBS' new show Moonlight.. and they're both pretty similar, but Moonlight is going to have a whole half season on New Amsterdam to get a core gorup of viewers who probably won't stop watching for NA, most of the viewers probably would have watched both. such as myself. i wish tv would get rid of game shows and reality shows..

Very happy about Bones' move. Great duo.
I was going to tune in to New Amsterdam, but im not going to cry over it. It was probably going to be canceled after 3 episodes anyway.

ufff... they didn't change the fall premiere of Prison Break; I'm tired of waiting......

good BONES and HOUSE back to back lol

I'm very disappointed that Fox has decided to play it safe with a game show and has bumped New Amsterdam as a midseason replacement. The only bright spot is that Bones will be a lead in to House.
