Fox Officially Orders the Batman Prequel Gotham to Series

Fox has officially ordered Gotham to series.

Based on DC Comics characters, the drama is a Batman prequel that explores the origin stories of the Caped Crusader's eventual ally James Gordon (Benjamin McKenzie), a detective with the Gotham City Police Department, and his battle with the villains who made the city famous.

Written by The Mentalist creator Bruno Heller, who will also executive-produce the project with Nikita's Danny Cannon and John Stephens, Gotham previously had a series commitment at Fox. The series joins the network's previously ordered new drama series Backstrom and Hieroglyph.

Gotham will also star Jada Pinkett Smith, Donal Logue, Sean Pertwee, Robin Lord Taylor, David Mazouz, Erin Richards, Drew Powell, Zabryna Guevara, Camren Bicondova, and Cory Michael Smith.

Will you watch Gotham?

Fox Officially Orders the Batman Prequel Gotham to Series... then realizes how popular it is getting, reorders the episodes (that episode about those rich opera viewing people was boring so we will put it last) and then cancels it.

I assume it'll basically be a police procedural-type drama mixed in with a bit of Batman lore. So it could be kinda fun... maybe kinda boring. I'll certainly try it and hope that it's fun.

This may become a fun show or one horrible one!

Why did this get picked up by FOX?!
Obviously, this belongs on the CW.

FOX will do to this show what it did to Almost Human. Interject their demands on show producers and screw with the scheduling to generate one-time ratings only to abandon the show when their meddling adversely affects ratings.

I doubt I will bother watching

Sounds a lot like New York city Cops! :)

(Metropolis is New York in the daytime and Gotham City is New York at night.)

As usual, I'll watch only one & see how it goes from there. There's always a chance I could be pleasantly surprised, but there's nothing in the concept to lead me to believe that this is nothing but lazy network suits being lazy.
Lucky for them I think their judgement is far less than complete shit, so if they luck out & end up with something even a smidge more than complete shit, they can pretend for a little while longer that they have no balls whatsoever to take a risk on something original

They cancelled the only show I watch on their network, so it's no skin off my nose to abandon the network alltogether until they get the balls to produce something else more worth watchin'

I don't know if I want it to have 13 episodes or the typical 24. If its the latter, then there are going to be a lot of boring filler episodes that will reduce the show's quality. If its the former, well, it might be forgotten by the time a second season comes.

I will watch it but it is not the most promising TV show for the next season for me (This goes to "iZombie", "The Flash" and the stalker Kevin Williamson's project)

I will watch it and I think it will be a decent show ( hopefully ) However I was really hoping for a better Gordon. Nothing against Benjamin McKenzie but to be honest without I just don't see him suiting the roll. Of course everyone and ever show deserves a chance. I'll reserve further judgment till a few episodes air.

Not sure why this took so long. It's had a series commitment and been on the FOX website for months now.

Anyway, I think it's kind of cool that Ben McKenzie is returning to the network that made him a star, and John Stephens (producer/writer on The O.C.) will be working on Gotham as well.

Gotham....ooooohhh....network TV....ohhhh.....I'm sorry to offend anyone, but just judging the fact that it's on network TV, it won't be any good. These type of shows only work on cable; I don't know why that is, but it seems for serial dramas, not procedurals, networks drop the ball at least since Fringe ended. They start out cool, but they never are anything above average or anything to even get excited for. This project I think would be cooler if it was on a cable network, and not just the nudity or looser content restrictions, but because they tend to have better writing. Again, I don't know why that is the case, with some cable programs also ranking very high on the Nielson ratings, but it is.

Yeah yeah, pick it up for mid-season, air 13 episodes and cancel. We know the drill--whatever...

They will concel it the first season or shortly after that.

It is FOX after all, anything scifi/fantasy gets cancelled.

Fox renewed Sleepy Hollow and gave Fringe 5 seasons. I liked Almost Human but at this point, I blame other people for not watching it. Funny that everyone is complaining it got cancelled by Fox. Not to mention, people were so happy that Terra Nova got cancelled. It was a scifi show.

I liked Terra Nova.

Sleepy Hollow & Fringe lost me along the way.

But Firefly is still unforgivable.
