Fox over the moon for were-Bitches

I'll have a cosmooooooooooooo!

Vampires are soooooo 2008. Fox is getting a head start on the next supernatural phenomenon with a new project, Bitches (which should raise eyebrows at both the F.C.C. and N.O.W.), says The Hollywood Reporter. The drama and comedy hybrid will focus on four female werewolves who live in New York City.

Yes, you read that right.

Fox is high on the project, signing a deal with scribe Michael Dougherty that includes all sorts of penalties if Bitches doesn't move forward. Dougherty previously wrote Superman Returns, X2, and the delayed Trick 'r Treat, which is generating positive buzz among horror fans.

Little more is known about Bitches other than its description of being a "quirky urban fairy tale." The idea of four Manhattan female friends also begs comparisons to Sex and the City, but the Bitches gals will likely prowl the streets at night as wolves rather than cougars.

Werewolves are expected to make appearances in the second season of True Blood and the sequel to Twilight, both of which helped fuel this year's love affair with vampires.

parsec54: you do realize that they don't actually exist... right?

    What are they thinking?

The whole premise is flawed right from the start. According to research I did myself while trying to do a werewolf story, I found out that only MALES can become werewolves, so this whole thing is off-base. It's most likely someone came up with the name and didn't want to let it go so threw this together and Fox, as puerile as they are, were the ones to think it worth getthing. Another insult to viewers' intelligence...

The title is my favorite part. I'm open minded and will watch an episode or two before judging...

If it weren't for "Cops," that whole network would have faded away a long time ago.

I wonder if it will last as long as Cavemen?

Interesting premise...and they need to keep that title.

I'll give it a shot. I loved Buffy and Angel. I like Sex and the City. And I actually thought Superman Returns was a decent take on the Superman character. So I'll give it a chance.

  • Vital_Shot

Sounds... interesting. If it goes to a series, I might watch the first episode. I'm up for anything these days.

LOL, the title sounds interesting enough for it to give it a chance.

Won't this be considered plagiarism of Sex and the City?

  • tvjunkie24

i think it will be Disgusting just as Cavemen. but let us not be hasty to judge. lets give it a shot. by the way, funny title. imagine going to work and saying: "Hey, has anyone seen B*tches?"... that would be hilarious!

They're not getting away with the title, That I'm sure of. I'll probably watch the first episode and then never again.

SO Sex and The City with hairy women??? Didn't ABC do this last season? It was called Cavemen.

I reckon this sounds like a potentially brilliant series, at least it's something different and some more CSI crap.

  • tvownsLEXIE

Oh geez. Next is there going to be "Harry Potter the Series?" Come to think of it, I would actually watch that show :)

  • GODHOOD

I'll keep an open-minded but it does sound like Sex and the City but with Werewolves. I think the title will cause some controversy. On a side note Michael Dougherty's "Trick 'r Treat" movie is getting high praise from horror fans, it's been showing in a few film festivals, in fact I haven't seen one bad review yet. So Dougherty could pull this off since he is a decent writer.

If Buffy wasn't one of my all time favorite shows i would probably agree with most of the people here, but look how fabulous this show turned out to be and the orginal description left much to be desired "clueless blond teen fights vamps" So maybe this sounds dumb but will be just as awesome, i'll wait for details to unfold.

    Dec 22, 2008
  • Fwirrel

Wow... this sounds stupid... I will definitely not watch...

So FOX is willing to put this crap on TV, but they cancel good shows? This looks like TeenWolf NY. I can only see this on FOX at one time of the night -- like between 1am & 5am!

  • fatfreeoreos

Definitely will not be tuning in to this. And they really need to change the title.

  • amaryllis88

I don't know how well something like this idea and comedy can mix together. If done right, it can be a hit, but depending on how they're going to portray were-wolves, it can also be majorly cheesy. I'm kind of interested on how far it's going to get, as far as pilot, and who would sign on to do a project like this. It all depends on the carry-through, and the writing/production. I'm kind of iffy on this whole premise, but if it's solid, I may tune in.

Ok that sounds really really s***. If it was just a drama then maybe. But comedy?

    Dec 22, 2008
  • tvfan332

That is possibly the worst idea I have ever heard for a teleivision series. It just seems so bizarre and cheesy. What is gonna happen? These four girls will meet up to talk and then at midnight they will go on killing sprees?

Shouldn't this be a bad made for tv movie and not a TV series? :P
