Fox Pushes Bones to Midseason — See What's Replacing It

Bones fans will have to wait a little longer to say goodbye. Fox has pushed the long-running show's final season to winter 2017.

Bones was originally slated to air Thursdays at 9/8c in the fall after Rosewood. Now, freshman drama Pitch will take that timeslot.

Pitch stars Kylie Bunbury as the first woman to play Major League Baseball. The emotional, character-driven trailer immediately stood out from the crowd of new dramas joining the fall schedule, which mainly consists of reboots, procedurals and time-travel shows.

Pushing Bones to midseason also means Prison Break will be getting a new timeslot. The revival was scheduled to air Thursdays at 9/8c, but now the Wentworth Miller drama will air Tuesdays at 9/8c beginning in winter 2017.

They just ended the last season in July, so an early fall start was unlikely. Still love the show and glad Fox saw it through even if they did jerk the schedule around way too much.

It is a bit past the time for Bones to exit the lineup. I kept dropping it from my viewing, but when there was a lull in programming or I needed a happy, feel good, viewing experience I came back. I have been enjoying this last season and the return of all the interns. Over the years I have enjoyed the wacky episodes when Bones and Booth go undercover I hope there is one more of those in the final episodes. I wish they weren't delaying the final episodes until Winter 2017.

I have loved Bones from the first time I saw it and still do I will be sorry to see it go but I would like to see it in the fall instead of pitch. I doubt very much I will like it.

Bones? I thought this was canceled years ago :D There is no chemistry between Bones (the robot) and Booth so I can't see the point in continuing the show after they got together. The worst TV couple ever.

Although I'm from the UK so probably won't see them until 2018 (not really, I think we get them a month after them being shown in the US) I think that delaying a final season so they can stick any new crap (opinion based on recent new shows from all over that haven't lasted long) in place of it is hilariously silly. If they want finally rid of it they could just not bother showing it at all. It would certainly be a faster way of cutting the cord.

Let's be honest Bones ended when Sweets died. I haven't seen an episode since.

I was hoping they were done with this. There's nothing new or interesting after 11 years.

Not happy about that - it has 12 episodes in the final season - why not just burn them off in the Fall?

because networks looooooove postponing airing final seasons.

Considering the behind the scene issues/legal problems, it's just a shortened 'finish off the story season' and FOX's history of moving the show around it's not surprising that they have moved it. They know that people will watch it especially as it's the last season and I'm sure that it won't be the last time that they decide to move it before it airs or even once it has started it's final fun of episodes.

I'm pretty impressed with Bone's writers. All things being equal, it's a major accomplishment for them to keep coming up with material. I was a huge fan of this one, but watching these days feels more like an obligation. I dislike this trend where they are reduced to creating relationship drama among the supporting cast, just so they have something fresh to move forward with.

I know that everybody is making a lot of money and the numbers are still respectable, but they should have pulled the plug on this one rather than destroying the core of this once great show.

EXACTLY the opposite for me. I'm a big fan of Bones and will be sad when it ends for good, so waiting a little longer for that final goodbye is okay with me.

Given that it will be the last season for the show, FOX really doesn't have any incentive to bring it back in the fall. They've already written it off.

Damnit, I wanted this show to end sooner rather than later. Thanks, Fox! :(
