Fox Renews Family Guy and American Dad for the 2013-2014 Season

While all the other networks are busy announcing their renewals for next season, Fox is doing them one better by announcing renewals for NEXT next season. Okay, it's only because animated shows run on a year-in-advance production cycle, but still.

Fox has ordered an eleventh full season of Family Guy and an eighth full season of American Dad, ensuring that both series will remaind on the air through the 2013-2014 season. Wait, American Dad has been on the air for eight seasons? Time, where have you gone? Both orders are reportedly for the standard 22 episodes.

Currently not invited to the renewal party is Seth MacFarlane's other Fox animated series The Cleveland Show. While it's already renewed for 2012-2013, its future beyond that is still in question.

How long do you think Family Guy can go?

Not a surprise. I doubt any show made by Seth McFarlane will EVER get cancelled by Fox if Seth doesn't agree. After all they went through to snatch Family Guy away from Cartoon Network, Seth owns them and he knows it. Expect his shows to say on as long as Seth wants to do them.

Cleveland sucked form the get go. He'll probably move back to Quahog once the 2012-13 season's over and maybe We'll see the other characters once in a while as an in-joke of how The Cleveland Show sucked so badly that it was cancelled.

These 2 aren't worth it.... and American Dad has never been; Even Family Guy I don't watch

how can you say they're not "worth it" if you just said you don't watch it... contradicting yourself in the same comment, shows how well thought out your comments and opinions are...

"Family Guy" is still fantastic in my book, though not what it used to be, but Seth McFarlane is getting toward the point where he's going to be really running out of all sorts of gags before long. I say let him end it after this on his terms.

The Cleveland Show is absolutely terrible. AD and FG are shells of how great they once were, but they're still enjoyable.

I thought Seth wanted to ditch Family Guy and move on to other projects. I guess he had a change of heart.

Well Fox Me, they renewed more Family Guy and American Dad. I don't really get why Fox is on the fence about Cleveland Show, they wanted another Family Guy and got one; Seth MacFarlane made sure they got more money for a bigger and more expensive cast, but not tighter writing; Fox picked up the series for 2 years so early that no audience had seen a full episode when Fox threw money at it, so whose fault is Cleveland Show? Fox's, and now they need to figure out how to get return on that investment without burning MacFarlane.

I'm glad about FG and somewhat impressed about AD because it's felt out of its element for years now, but until I see the renewal for Bob's Burgers, I'm not going to give Fox any credit at all.

I think Family Guy can go for about 8 seasons - meaning the past 2 have been pretty average. Great episodes have been few & far between.

Need another season of Bob's Burgers okayed before I can breathe a sigh of relief.

Happy times ahead!!!

Even though Family Guy has lost a lot of its earlier force and this season overall was the weakest yet, it still beats all other animated series, except... American Dad that keeps getting better and better. Family Guy is showing good signs lately of recovering, so.... me happy!!!

Ahem ARCHER ahem.

Archer might be the best animated show EVER! And that's coming from a huge Simpsons seasons 1-10 fan.

1-10 try 10 more.... and i personally think Futurama and American Dad are the 2 strongest animated shows out there...

First off.. no show is even close to Futurama in the "smartness department"

as for American Dad it comes off as really strong due to the fact that it's jokes aren't getting stale (might be because it's still young) but 8 seasons is still alot though
