Fox takes Drive for a spin

Fox has revved up the drama pilot Drive with a 12-episode series order.

The show, which chronicles an underground race across America, is targeted for a spring launch. The ensemble cast includes Alan Ruck, Kristin Lehman, Melanie Lynskey, Emily Stone, Shahine Ezell, and Andres Saenz-Hudson.

The pickup will bring the total number of episodes ordered to 13, including the pilot.

It has been a bumpy ride for Drive, which was delivered to the network more than a month ago. For a few weeks, the project appeared to be dead, and writer/executive producer Tim Minear joined the rookie drama series Standoff as a consulting producer. Drive began heating up again last week when rumors about a possible midseason pickup began to surface. Minear said he hopes to do minor tinkering on the pilot with some reshoots but doesn't plan any casting changes.

Meanwhile, another midseason prospect at Fox, the NASA ensemble drama Beyond, is not going forward at this time.

All Three Series Are Nothing Special But This Doesn't Much Good Either.

I hope that it doesn't replace Standoff, I love that show, it's one of my favorites shows on televison right now....it could replace either of the other shows, I haven't watched either and probably won't.....Just don't touch my Standoff and it will be fine...

I hope it replaces Standoff because I love Justice, like Vanished, and HATE Standoff.

I really like standoff and Vanished so I hope it does not replace either one...I thought justice had already been cancelled

Looks decent, but since it has Alan Ruck in it, I have to watch it.

Underground race as in tunnel digging? Acuras and Nissan Skylines? Mole People? I'm not clear on this, and no matter what it turns out to be, it would be quite lame to replace Standoff. So there.

It has Tim Minear running it; it won't be bad. The Inside ruled, I just hope, that for once, the man has a hit. He deserves it, and he'll get one eventually.

Joss Whedon loved the pilot, so I assume this'll be awesome.

Sounds like a good series but it better not replace Standoff or Justice.
