Uh-oh… more bad news for fans of Dollhouse. Fox e-mailed out the highlights from its upcoming May schedule, and one thing appears to be missing: the final episode of Joss Whedon's new action show.
On May 8, Fox will air the episode titled "Omega," which the network describes as a season finale. But there's just one problem: "Omega" is only the show's 12th episode and the crew shot 13. The episode that won't air is titled "Epitaph One."
The news appears to have been confirmed with Felicia Day, who starred in Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog and had a role in "Epitaph One." According to The Hollywood Reporter, Day used her Twitter account to say, "Man, day getting worse and worse. Found out my Dollhouse ep, #13 isn't gonna air. Only on DVD. Such a great part too. Thx Fox. :( ..."
However, according to some from Whedon's camp, "Omega" is actually Whedon's original idea of a season finale, so season one won't feel cut short. But the obvious question is "if that was the season finale, why did they shoot an extra episode?"
It looks as though Fox cut Dollhouse's run short in order to make room for the two-hour Prison Break series finale.
This should in no way be interpreted as the show being cancelled, but it isn't a good sign either.
UPDATE: According to television critic Alan Sepinwall, Fox apparently considers the original pilot (Joss Whedon re-shot the first episode) as part of the 13-episode order, and "Epitaph One" was produced independently by the studio. Therefore, Fox doesn't feel as though they need to air the extra episode (and if that's the case, it's a legitimate decision). It is believed the unaired episode will be part of the season one DVD box set.

I haven't seen any episodes of the show, but I think it's pretty safe to say that Fox and Joss Whedon will never cross paths again. You would have thought he'd have learned his lesson after "Firefly."I will definitely be renting this on Blu-Ray when Netflix gets it, though.
I love Dollhouse. Sucks that Felicia Day's episode won't air.
The funniest thing is when people who don't know call Dollhouse on being about sexy women. Thats a lot like calling Uncle Toms Cabin racist. Dollhouse is all about objectifying people, and how dangerous it is. Thats exactly why it forces the audience to look at pretty vacant faces and cringe.
I will explain why I like Dollhose. Its not Whedon, whom I like off and on. Its the premise. It scares me to death. The idea of having your essense stripped from your body and being used is something almost all women and most men understand. And if it was done by people who seem rational and kind, society would let them do it to you. I believe that. Also, I love how Joss makes the audience share the guilt. The reason we are being shown beautiful men and women isn't to thrill us. Its to make us aware that we are just as guilty as the dollhouse is. We all strip identities and turn people into objects every day. With our minds. It is one of the few shows that has something to say that I think is worth saying. This show isn't written for ratings. its a work of literature.moreless
I have to agree with others that have commented here. I just could not get into Dollhouse. That having been said. Ordinarily I'd be very upset. But recently too many of my fave shows have been canceled and left us on a cliff hanger. As long as this 12th episode does NOT leave us hanging, I'm fine with this. Mind you, I'm not fine with this. But I think this is a better option if and only there is no cliff hanger. Whats going on with the Networks these days anyway.

I've tried and tried to accept Dollhouse, but I just can't get into it... I think i've just had my fill with hot girls fighting or coming to terms with things in a Whedon show... Now if Chuck does get cancelled along with Terminator, then here's hoping FOX redeems themselves by brining back FireFly - what i'm I saying they'll just put some stupid reality show or another Vampire show there because Twilight did so well with the teeny-boppers.. ugh!

I only watch 2 shows on tv. Dollhouse and Lie to Me. As long as they don't get cancelled I'll be happy. Since I planned on buying the complete series when it becomes a box set...okay. I've lost faith in television programming....whomever came up with reality shows is a shark preying on the pathetic losers of the world needing to live vicariously thru the success of others because they can't achieve it themselves. Tv is supposed to be a relaxing outlet of fantasy after a hard day of the real world. Not a subsitute.
What did you guys see in the show that I didn't. I must not be as emotionally in tuned with their acting as you folks are. Really, what exactly makes hot girls with no facial expressions interesting to you? Is it because Whedon touched it? What on God's green Earth am I missing here. Can you relate to these people in some way? I dunno folks, but a freshly dropped meadow muffin has more substance than this series.
Dollhouse is one of the best, most original and creative shows on the air today; the program is the closest that TV has come to 'The Prisoner'. If FOX cancels Dollhouse, it will be the greatest betrayal that the network has dealt the public to date.

Fox never should have put Dollhouse in a Friday Night Time Slot. Fox should just stop airing scripted programming in a Friday Night Time Slot.
I am upset. I think we ought to boycott fox. They get you interested in a new show and then yank it off the air everytime you end of loving it. I think we all need to refuse to watch anything they air!!! Maybe then they would get the message.
Well, Well !!! Fox has been famous for this for so many years. Good shows just canceled with no ended to the show. In my opinion, if they are going to cancel a good show at least end the story. I hate when Fox leaves cliff hangers, but the cliff hanger is just to leave the audience hanging. Please no more leaving the audience hanging. I love Dollhouse. Please don't cancel it.

Whedon and crew never should have gone to FOX. They should have found a cable channel to pick this show up. If they had gone to cable they would have the audience they need to stay on the air, they wouldn't have the hangups of network idiots (a network that has only renewed hour long PROCEDURALS with the exception of "24") ruining your vision of what the show should be. Also, with this thick of a mythology, a short 13 episode season is all this show needs instead of a bloated 18-22 episode season. This show took too long for the audience to get into the story. Had "Man on the Streets" been the first episode aired they would have better numbers and their audience from episode 1 would have returned. Cancellation now seems inevitable but if you expected a different result, you should have chosen a different partner to do business with.moreless

Joss Whedon and every other tv show maker on the planet should avoid FOX like the plague and i would LOVE it if everyone stopped watching FOX shows so they go bust and Joss Whedon goes to HBO, who actually know how to handle their TV showsp.s. burn in hell FOX
@bandshark, Dollhouse is a well written show which is clearly gracefully building a powerful story as opposed to having a string of lottery-winning-improbable coincidences like say prison break and a little like fringe (Which I also enjoy a bit). Maybe you should see the whole show before talking like you know it.
You know what this is what upsets me with TV. They are cancelling all these great shows to make room for ones that arent even worth 30 mins. So many great shows that I've had to say goodbye to. What is TV comming to? Makes me not even want to watch it anymore....
@99Channels, I actually anticipated the release of Dollhouse and force fed myself 3 episodes of Dushku's dazed and bewildered looks before I realized it was nothing more than poorly written eye candy. I have never watched the show you seem to know so much about('dancing..'). I prefer shows like 'Fringe', 'The I.T. Crowd', and 'Packed to the Rafters'. To each his own, but 'Dollhouse' seems like it would be more at home on Cinimax along with 'The Red Shoe diaries' and other similar programming.
Fox has got to be the crappiest network around. Lets cancel good shows to make room for a Prison Break finale. Prison break is crap. Tried to watch a few episodes and fell asleep.
Seriously, cancel Terminator and Dollhouse and I will seriously be cancelling my television subscription, because any of the shows I watch get cancelled.

I personally never understood the appeal of 'Whorehouse'. I'm looking forward to it's inevitable cancellation and opening up a time slot for something new.
Fox has pulled moves like this on Joss before. Remember Firefly (One of the best shows I have ever watched) Lets hope that they with green light a second season. Lets face it Joss is a genius and this show deserves a spot in the lineup.
Prison Break's last two episodes were boring. The Sunshine State and The Moter Lode. But Dollhouse is getting better and better.

When is Fox going to learn Friday nights kills shows. They had success with X-files, Hello!!!! How many years ago was that. Fox doesn't even consider Tivo stats, this is BS all shows need to recognize that Tivo is the future.
here is the bottom line Joss and Eliza need to say the hell with fox period without American Idol Fox is horrible in the ratings, dont get me wrong here fox has good shows(DOLLHOUSE, BONES,HOUSE,PRISON BREAK),now I dont watch house, fringe or terminator) but in the past fox has given up on alot of shows (reunion,tru calling, john doe, plus many more fox is horrible just plain and simple. So joss and Eliza take your talents else where like FX, TNT, USA OR EVEN HBO OR SHOWTIME!!!

I really hope this doesn't mean that Dollhouse is canceled. A great show indeed, and I would really hate to see another Joss show canceled by Fox.
i've never watched "dollhouse" but it's just another example of a tv station screwing their viewers in a very unrespectful way. seems like it is the latest fashion to cut seasons short without a proper ending (like they did with "pushing daisies" for instance) or to just finish it in the middle of nowhere with huge cliffhangers (like "my own worst enemy" or "traveler"). i hate that!
