Fox's The Mob Doctor Has Contracted a Fatal Case of Cancelitis

Fox's The Mob Doctor entered the fall season with a terrible prognosis, and most professional health experts for television programs, myself included, gave it only a few weeks to live. But the little guy soldiered on and defied everyone's expectations despite terrible vital signs of sub-1.0 ratings in the adult demo. Death was inevitable, though, and I'm here to report that The Mob Doctor has contracted an irreversible and terminal case of Cancelitis.

Fox has canceled The Mob Doctor, about a doctor (Jordana Spiro) who works for the mob, eight episodes into its freshman run, according to EW.com. After next week's episode, the final four installments will be left for dead on December 29 and 31 and January 5 and 7. I did have big New Year's Eve plans and was gonna watch the ball drop from the observation deck of the Eiffel Tower, but I guess I have to stay home and watch The Mob Doctor instead (which I'd rather do anyway).

Official word from Frox is that the show isn't canceled, which is technically correct because the network is simply opting to not order more episodes beyond the original 13, but we laymen can use the C-word. The Mob Doctor's vacated Monday 9pm slot will be filled with various holiday specials, Raising Hope, and other things that are way better than The Mob Doctor.

Silver lining to all this? Zeljko Ivanek is now free to appear on some good shows. (And stay tuned, we'll post a Dead Pool update shortly.)
