I was literally knocked down, without remorse, and I realized the insanity that celebrities must go through on a daily basis. Not even the New York police could keep these photo mongrels away from the likes of Shakira, P. Diddy, or Busta Rymes. They climbed over barricades and ran wild in the street between the red carpet and the entrance.
I was positioned at the end, which I quickly learned was the best vantage point for the rotten razzi, as well as the best point for me to get a quick chat with some of the presenters, performers, and attendees before they went into Radio City Music Hall.
Early on, Richard Patrick (former guitarist for Nine Inch Nails and currently playing in Army of Anyone) stopped by to hang for a few minutes. He pointed out that he liked my shirt. I was wearing Vivian Tam, and he talked about the parties he was heading to later that evening and how he was over himself and interviewing after yesterday. He just wanted to hang out.
How normal, I thought.
Then I was able to grab just a few interviews with the ladies from MTV's Laguna spin-off The Hills; Constantine from American Idol, who talked about the new Broadway show he will be performing in; and Andy Milanokis, who mentioned that his new season will start shooting in LA instead of NYC.
Then the bling came a-walking, and entourage after entourage came through, one larger than the previous.
Not so normal, I thought.
Then again, tonight was the night I was sworn at and pushed over by paparazzi.

damn paparazzi
careful
A helmet and a golf club will be ok to protect yourself from Paparazzi.
since when is the paparazzi not vicious?
These people don't have a mercy, they are like animals... Take care...
Be careful out there, its a crazy world we live in.
Maybe you should bring along a blocker next time. Any hulking TV.com staffers available to keep those crazy photographers at bay? I hope you didn't get hurt.
You should wear a helmet when on location.
Becareful out there Steph! We don't want to see you getting hurt!
I want an entourage
