Galactica movie going to DVD

Sci-Fi's Battlestar Galactica will likely get the movie treatment with a two-hour telefilm that will go directly to DVD. The movie would be separate from the existing storyline of the show and would be shot between season three and four.

The storyline would likely tie into a new Battlestar series, Caprica, that is on deck at Sci-Fi, according to geekmonthly.com. Caprica would take place decades before the events of Battlestar Galactica and would show the development of the Cylons.

Neither the new series nor the DVD movie has been given a green light by the network. Galactica experienced a viewer drain this season, but reviews and DVD sales have remained strong.

The site also reports that filming had been completed on the Babylon 5 direct-to-DVD movie, titled Babylon 5: The Lost Tales.
