Game of Thrones: New Trailer and The Simpsons Intro! (VIDEO)

There isn't even a month left until Game of Thrones returns for Season 2, but we still can't get enough new trailers to keep us sated until the Clash of Kings really begins. HBO is an understanding lot, and released a third full trailer for the series over the weekend. It's a hodge-podge of footage we've already seen, footage we haven't, dialogue we've already heard, dialogue we haven't, and Joffrey looking super smug in The Iron Thrones all set to the tune of that band everyone thinks they like.

Things look like they're going well for Robb, crummy for Arya, even crummier for Jaime Lannister, and like a bad hair day x 1,000 for whoever was on the other end of The Hound's two-handed downward strike. Yeesh! As if you didn't already know, Game of Thrones returns April 1.

But even cooler was The Simpsons' loving tribute to the Game of Thrones credit sequence from last night's episode. It's one minute of genius at work and almost makes us forget that The Simpsons is really just around to print money. Check out part of it in the YouTube video below quickly before Fox calls for the poster's head and dispatches its legal team to filet him. And for the full version, head over to io9. It's totally worth it. We'll wait.

I watched that Simpsons episode and the opening actually surprised me with it's automatic greatness (anything GoT is great), especially since the openings have become either repeats or stale over the years. Can't wait for the new season!

Ah, the Simpsons! Considering they've been around so long and have had to come up with so many opening sequences (at least the lines on the chalkboard and the ending part), it's nice to see that they can still come up with some genius like this.

As for Game of Thrones itself, I can't wait! I've started rewatching season one and am limiting myself to one episode a week, with the last few all in one go at the end of the month. Tougher than it sounds.

It only goes to prove why opening sequences contribute greatly to a show becoming a hit and they should not be cut just to squeeze in another ad.

Arya: "Anyone can be killed." - May be the most succinct summary of the story ever.

And that's the best thing The Simpsons has done in a decade.

Game of Thrones & Boardwalk Empire are surely amongst the best of TV fare at this time and I can't wait for S02 of Game to kick off. It's a shame there's this gap between the two that needs to be filled somehow.......Time to watch Game of Thrones Season 1 in it's entirety methinks!!

Those trailers make me itch with excitement. And that Simpsons version is such a great homage to GoT. But you have to see the full one minute version to fully appreciate it. (I guess I can't link to that one here...)

C'mon Florence + The Machine, Seven Devils. You can't deny that it's a solid fit for Game of Thrones. And the Simpsons opening, pure awesomeness
