Screw winter, April is coming! Season 2 of HBO's incredibly expensive Ren-Faire is set to return in the fourth month of 2012, and as if you aren't sufficiently excited for already, the network aired this tantalizer last night during the Season 2 finale of Boardwalk Empire.
If you don't want to be even remotely spoiled at all, you're safe in reading this paragraph. Though to be fair, even a below-average detective can figure out the identity of the video's narrator, provided the detective in question took vigorous notes during Season 1. Anyway, take a look at this latest teaser, which is less about revealing new footage and more about creating an air of "Oh dammn! Shiznit is abouts to get reallllllll!!!!"
The identity of the narrator—and here's your chance to look away—is Stannis Baratheon, Robert's brother. As you heard, the yet-to-be-seen brother thinks he's the rightful heir to the Iron Throne. I'm sure that will sit well with King Joffrey, Robert's jerkish "son" who assumed the Throne last season and exhibited his power in one of the most shocking moments of television ever. And Robb Stark won't mind at all, even though his people named him the rightful leader of Westeros. And then there's Renly, Robert and Stannis's younger brother, who has Ser Loras whispering in his ear that he should be king, and who's got himself a sweet new antler crown. And let's not forget about Dany and her new pets, getting ready to cross the Narrow Sea and set the world on fire. Four men and one woman claiming right to the same ultimate seat of power? No wonder the second book in George R.R. Martin's novel series was called A Clash of Kings.

the only thing I am waiting for more, is the next book.
U & me both...
Hate to say it, its going to be lots of Winter coming & going LOL
they absolutely did an amazing job with season one. i've read all the books and honestly think the writers/producers need to step back from a book per season restraints. HBO will stick to 10 episode a year, of that i have no doubt. i i produced season 1 i would have ended it with the blade coming towards ned's head. there would have been a rush on book stores if people thought they had to wait a year to know if he actually was beheaded or not. also, no way can you make a storm of swords in ten episode!! and for TV you have to combine feast of crows and a dance with dragons. those two books together would need 3 seasons.
7 seasons to get through the first 5 books. any less is gonna require a TON of editing. i won't begin to put in suggestions as not to raise spoilers. i'm eroding clash just to get me more in the ready. plus i kinda forgot were clash ends and storm begins.moreless
Five months. Five loooooong, excruciating months!
It's actually four months.
Oh yeah that makes it so much better.
1 word: Blackwater
(ok, technically that's 2 words, but you know what I am sayin')
Here is a nice "unofficial preview" to A Clash of Kings very well done by a fan:

can wait
Part way through A Clash of Kings (man those are big books!) and am loving it, especially knowing they'll do a wicked job adapting and economizing. Can't wait to see what they do with it... even though I know I HAVE to wait. Sigh.
Maisie Williams is awesome. She has done such a fantastic job bringing Arya to the screen. Same goes for Peter Dinklage, of course.
Why does it have to be April? Why can't it be right now?
She is too adorable! What a great fit for Arya- my fav character in the novels. She also reminds me of Lyra from 'His dark materials.'
...and when she was saying, she has to wash her hair 5 times to get the grease out (yuck)--now, that's dedication to a role!
Winter is coming!
Why did i see this??? now i'll be in pain till April !!!
I am so going to read the books! Can't wait that long am i right?
It looks so incredibly awesome!
The book will still be better >)
Books have an easier time in putting details and things that sometimes does not work in a TV schedule, so in that sense, it is "better" because it has more advantage and more freedom to do what it wants. But considering Martin himself is quite heavily involved in making the TV series itself, I think it will be just as good as the books.
Robb Stark was named "King in The North" not the king of Westeros. Small but very important detail, although, in the long run it won't make a difference. I love ASoIaF and can't wait for the new season of GoT.
cant wait for the new season of game of thrones
find it kind of strange that the name for the whole series is "A Game of Thrones"
@lucdejonge ahhhhh your close to hiting the most fabled part of the whole series
Well, it's the TV series that's called "A Game of Thrones" the book series is called "A Song of Ice and Fire". So far there are 5 books to the series by George R.R. Martin:
- A Game of Thrones
- A Clash of Kings
- A Storm of Swords
- A Feast of Crows
- A Dance with Dragons (published in July this year)
Cant wait!!
Daaaamn, I'm so excited =| finished the second book & now halfway through the third book, can't wait to see how they present some things to us, going to be an absolutely amazing season
I'm so excited, come back now!!!!
Well, I've yet to start reading Clash of Kings and It's a long book. If I don't finish it by April, I WILL NOT watch the series. But who cares? After it airs, it stays on my cable company's "on demand" for more than a year! I can watch it any time.
Are there any words to describe the excitement one feels for the upcoming season? No? Didn't think so. The English (or any other) language isn't sufficient enough to create the kind of poetry needed for the job.
These books are the best thing to happen to fantasy fiction since LotR. This TV show is the best thing to happen to fantasy TV since they aired LotR on TV.
Also, screw the "fantasy" requirement. These books are one of the best things to ever happen to fiction writing, and this show is one of the best things to ever happen to TV.
