Geek gets beauty of renewal

The surprise reality hit Beauty and the Geek was renewed by The WB this week. The renewal gives viewers another opportunity to watch nerdy, antisocial men attempt to woo hot, shallow women, an activity that normally takes place at a comic-book convention.

The series, produced by model-turned-actor-turned-reality show mogul Ashton Kutcher, debuted to good ratings in the early summer and increased over its run. The new season will be eight episodes long, up from six episodes in the first season.

This is the second reality contribution from Ashton Kutcher, who previously produced the riotous MTV prank show Punk'd, in which celebrities have a horrible occurrence befall them and are then forced to act cool in front of the cameras when they find out it's all a joke.

No word on whether or not Kutcher will appear in the new season of Geek wearing a baseball cap turned to the side.

i read somewhere that ashton believes producing is his 'back up' career. considering his acting, that's a good idea. although considering his producing....
