HBO Renews Getting On for Season 2

I've got some good news for people who like little-watched but funny comedies. HBO has ordered a second season of the nurse sitcom Getting On, just as as we expected it would. The second season will run for six episodes; that's the same number of episodes as Season 1, but still a unusually small number for a second season.

Perhaps you haven't even heard of Getting On, given how quietly it debuted late last year. The medical comedy is an adaptation of the BBC show of the same name, and it stars Laurie Metcalf, Niecy Nash, and Alex Borstein. It was imported to the U.S. by Big Love creators Mark V. Olsen and Will Scheffer, and old ladies swear in it. Getting On was a sneaky surprise for me, and I ended up liking it a lot. If you checked it out, what'd YOU think?

This gets a second season, but "Hello Ladies" doesn't? Doesn't make sense.

I am actually glad that this has received a second season. "Getting On" is actually a really good show. Wish that it received more than 6 episodes, but I will take it.

I had no idea about this show until a month ago and it's incredible. It's very different from every other comedy, great cast and it's actually funny! Very happy about it's renewal.

I actually really loved this. Was a nice surprise after the disappointment that was Ja'mie.

Hopefully this is a good sign for other smaller, quiet shows like Looking. I think the appeal of these two shows and Girls is that they're not expensive to make.

This makes me so happy. It almost makes up for Boardwalk and Treme's cancellations. Almost, but not quite.

I liked it. I thought it wasn't going to get renewed because of all of the quiet, but I'm glad it's getting a second season!

I recently saw Nebraska and just now I was like "Wasn't the lady in Nebraska that same actress that played that racist/potty mouth lady in Getting On"? Yup, it was June Squibb. Loved that episode.

i was afraid this show would have been so quiet that it would have been cancelled im excited it's coming back. Laurie Metcalf is a national treasure.
