Glee Might Be Relocating to NYC Full-time; Which Characters Would You Want to Make the Move?

There ain't nothin' like a rumor to get the internet all fired up over potentially nothing, but this one has such dramatic show-changing potential that hey, I'll bite. According to TVLineGlee creators Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk, and Ian Brennan are discussing the possibility of "moving" the show to New York on a full-time basis. As anyone who's still watching Glee can attest, the show has struggled to balance its two-location setup since the moment it launched its two-location setup in Season 4, following the graduation and NYC transplanting of Rachel and Kurt.

Naturally, this raises tons of questions. Would a move to the Big Apple truly mean no more McKinley, no more books, no more Will Schuester creepy looks? Would it mean no more choir room sing-cry sessions? Would it mean we can finally sever ties with Sue Sylvester (who, to be honest, wore out her welcome awhile ago)? Would it mean no more big iTunes-friendly theme episodes that revolve around a weekly "assignment"? What would happen to the guy who plays the piano? And most importantly, would it mean losing half the current cast? Who would make the move to New York? Which characters have storylines that could actually qualify a move?

I personally think the series would have been better off if it had called it quits in the wake of Cory Monteith's death, but Ryan Murphy quit taking my phone calls after that one time I suggested he has a tendency to ruin everything he touches. Talk about holding grudges. Whatever. Moving Glee to New York might seem crazy, but it could actually be a turning point for the series. If done properly, it would be an easy way to jettison the crap that's not working—which is roughly 75 percent of every episode, give or take a few percents—and act as sort of a reboot. Essentially, Glee could start over like American Horror Story does every season.

The only question left is: Who's the dead weight? Who do the producers leave behind in Lima to steer a riding lawn mower to a drive-thru liquor store at 4pm? (That's a true story. Stay classy, Lima.) Who do you want to see join Rachel, Kurt, and Santana in New York? I'll start us off: Blaine is probably a given considering his relationship with Kurt, and I have a soft spot for Sam, so those are my first two choices. Who are yours?

What do you think of this New York idea? Who would you keep around? Who would you cut? What's Mike O'Malley doing right now?

If you think Season 6 will officially be in NYC, then I think Marley, Kitty, Unique, Jake, Ryder and Joe will probably graduate from McKinley at the end of Season 5 and also Emma and Will transfer to Washington DC at the same time.

I really liked Glee in its first two seasons, but now it's just total garbage. The writing on this show is an outrage nowadays and the acting and the songs aren't much better to be fair.
I love the concept of Glee, I'm just done with the cast and rehashed storylines of this show. I think a full time NYC setting could save this show from being bad, and maybe even push it beyond six seasons, but what I believe they should do is they should reboot the series American Horror Story style. New cast, new setting, new story, but most of all, new showrunner. Heck, I wouldn't even mind some of the original actors portraying new characters, now that'd be interesting to watch! Kind of like Glee 2.0.
Also, kick Murphy entirely (I know that's never going to happen, but I'm just stating the truth.) He does a splendid job on AHS, but Glee has always been kind of mediocre, and I think its concept need a fresh new start, without Ryan's meddling.

Finally! I'd hoped it would happen sooner. The show really drags when it's back at McKinnley. The NYC stuff is why I keep watching but it has become such a chore sitting through the other stuff. I only want Blaine to join Rachel, Kurt, and Santana in NY. Nobody else is needed.

Sue has stopped being relevant about 2 years ago. As much as I like Marley and some of the McKinley kids, I really only care about NYC. Rachel, Santana, Curt, maybe Blaine. That's it. Dump Ohio.

Blaine and Sam. And Sue. Sue is awesome. The baby storyline was weird, but that doesn't change the fact that Sue is awesome. I'm pretty sure Blaine is moving to NY because he's already expressed interest in going to NYADA... and I'm happy as long as I get to see Darren Criss every week.

Given that Artie has already been accepted to film school in New York, it seems quite obvious that he and Blaine will join the crew in New York. As for a lot of the others, well most of them have been revealed to be sophomores and juniors. Unless they graduate early, it'd be difficult to keep them around.

I could live without seeing all the characters currently in Lima in NY. Blaine and Sam have become incredibly annoying and Chord and Darren are not nearly good enough actors to have taken over the show the way they have. Just picturing them in scenes opposite Lea, Naya and Chris is pretty laughable. Plus, I'm over the obnoxious "bro" shtick. The new characters are a waste of space, no personality or charisma. I wouldn't mind Brittany, Quinn and Mercedes making small appearances in NY every now and then.

Dump ALL the Newbies! Move Sue to NY and focus on Rachel, Santana and Kurt. W/O there is no reason to watch Lima. As it is now I DVR Glee and FF past all the Lima garbage. Which means there is only about 10 minutes of Glee worth watching. Same for the music, used to buy all the music is S1-3 but no more. I only buy NY music and I won't buy those stupid split Lima/NY songs either.

This is a no-brainer. If Ryan and Co have finally realised how screwed up this whole idea of splitting the screen time between Lima and New York is and bringing in all these new kids that no one cares about, they should chuck them (the new kids, that is) out. And they should bring back the originals (Mercedes, Puck, Quinn, Mike, Brittany)! They've spent three seasons making us care about them and now they're just gone. Even though it would be hard to come up with a plausible reason for all of them to move to NY, it would still be better than not seeing them at all. The original Glee kids are what made Glee such a great show and Season 4 and 5 have ruined all of that. Ryan, right your wrongs!

It is now clear that Glee will end with its sixth season, do they want to cut the high school setting so close to its end? sound strange...

My bet is that Murphy and Co are just messing with people - they told E that they were thinking about moving Kurt to Russia (note the link name is not the same as the article headline...for some reason):

Most of the characters are dead weights, since the writers don't know what to do with them. I would welcome with open arms a show focused only on New-York. Blaine, Sam and Tina would have to make the move. I'm not opposed to Artie and Kitty either.

Moving to New York might be a good thing. To be frank, I have somewhat given up on Glee, after picking up Smash’s super awesome Season 1. If Glee could become Smash Season 3 it would be sweet :)

Who isn't dead weight? Rachel and Kurt are the worst of the dead weight, except for all the rest. I'd take Brittany and Santana and Kitty, maybe Artie. I think that covers it. The rest of the characters are either not developed or just bad characters (different than bad people, they are all kind of bad people).

Move Blaine, Sam, Artie, Tina, Ryder and Unique to NYC; get Mike Chang to move to school in NYC (NYADA is NOT the only arts school in NY) and maybe, possibly, I'm still not 100% sure, Rory.

YEEEES Please Ryan!!! DO IT!...honestly the only ones i really want to move to new york and that would make a plausible move are Blaine (thats a given) Sam, Tina, Artie (he already got accept in an NY school) Wemma and Unique (eventually) The rest can shove it. Unless they move 5 years in the future...then a lot more can move....but seriously...most of the newbies are talent less...ok maybe not...but not original!!!

First off sue has not worn out her welcome. yes she can be an unwelcome sight at times but she's also the strongest comedic relief. that said I wouldn't move her to new york and her talents are pretty much wasted on this show.

as for who I'd move I'm inclined to only include those I think are most talented and since technology can make it sound as though virtually anyone is a capable singer during those lip-syncing "performances" on the show and the songs have a low like to dislike ration I'm biased toward capable dancers.

I would move (the most capable dancers are) will, artie (damn you disability-laden artie scenes), jake, kitty and brittany. I like sam and blaine as characters so wouldn't mind their moving as well. pretty much everyone else; good riddance!

The whole premise of the show is McKinley's show choir and their, dare I call them, misadventures. If they move the whole thing to NYC they can revolve everything around NYADA and Adam's Apples (now maybe Kurt's *fill in the blank*). Finish up the last season wholly in New York.

That gives us Mike, Sam, Blaine, Kurt, Santana, and Rachel. Between singing, dancing, and acting, that's a pretty solid combination. Keep the cast at 6, like with Friends, and just have guest appearances by former cast members visiting their friends in the Big Apple.

You could have Tina move to Jersey, and then rarely be seen because in the end, no one wants to go to Jersey.

Mike Chang. He can move there and try to make it as a dancer, and maybe move in with Sam, who's moved there to become an actor.

This would be the greatest move they could make, since anything worth watching on Glee is what happens in New York anyway. And to be honest I would be totally happy with just keeping Rachel, Kurt and Santana, with the additions of Dani and any other character they might find there. I guess Blaine would be there since he's engaged with Kurt.

Maybe the answer would be to cancel Glee and make a spin-off out of the NYC characters. That'd make a little more sense.

Look, it's called 'Glee.' Not 'Former Glee kids in New York.' The premise might be beyond stabilizing, but diverting from the path even further isn't the answer.

For me Glee at the moment is 'interesting' whenever we see them in New York. I definitely don't like the new students in the school. Marley, Unique, Ryder ... these three are especially whiny and dull (don't mean to offend anyone who likes them, just my personal opinion). The show should have continued along with the original first 2 seasons cast and not drag the story with new students in the school.

It's clear that the people who play Emma and Will wants out of Glee, so their story should end soon. The only characters I'd like to see move to New York is Ryder, Sam, Blaine and (maybe) Marley.

Blaine is an evil I could do without but we know that's not happening. Other than that: Sam, Artie and Rory (with Quinn as recurring). Add them to Rachel, Kurt, Santana and Dani and you'd possibly have a kick-ass show again.

Honestly, I could go without most of the current Lima characters. Blaine would go as long as he and Kurt are still together. Artie is the only other one that makes sense, storywise.

I'm really not against this idea. I've been much more invested in the NY storylines, although there's been some slight improvement on the balancing issue this season.

Everything he touches? AHS is in its third season and its better than ever and also one of the best shows on television so I don't think that's totally accurate. I know this won't be a popular choice but I really want Marley to stay on Glee. I really like her and I guess they'd have to drag along Ryder or Jake (hopefully Ryder) to make her relevant. I also hope they keep Sam, Kitty and Artie although it would be pretty tough explaining how all those people made it to New York.

I weirdly want like Sam. Here is my Blaine conflict..I'm not sure how I feel about him. I love Darren Criss' s voice and everything I've learned about the actor..I love him. Blaine though I'm just not bowled over by him and I kind of feel Kurt deserves better.Sam has the feel of a guy who plays on street corners and subways (sort of well like Darren Criss).
