Gob is Knight Rider's K.I.T.T.

It's not exactly the Arrested Development reunion that everyone was hoping for, but at least we'll be able to hear Gob Bluth's voice talk to Michael once more.

NBC today announced that Will Arnett, who played the popular not-so-adept magician and brother to Jason Bateman in Arrested Development, will be voicing the supercar K.I.T.T. in the network's telefilm remake of Knight Rider. Arnett's role on the all-too-short-lived Fox comedy helped him launch a successful career that has included parts in 30 Rock and the films Let's Go to Prison, Blades of Glory, and the upcoming Semi-Pro.

As previously hinted at, David Hasselhoff will also reprise his role as Michael Knight. However, the TV movie will focus on Mike Tracer, a 23-year-old "jaded" army vet (and previously mentioned to be Knight's son, but not confirmed in today's release from NBC) played by All My Children's Justin Bruening.

K.I.T.T. will also undergo a massive face-lift, and it's bad news for mullet-haired Trans-Am fans. NBC has inked a deal with Ford, which will see K.I.T.T. be a shape-shifting computer-hacking Ford Mustang Shelby GT500KR.

NBC will air the two-hour movie on Sunday, February 17 at 9 p.m. If it performs well, it could also be turned into a regular series.

The movie's tone hasn't been disclosed, but with Wil Arnett on board--as a car--it certainly opens up the possibility that Knight Rider will be a comedy. Executive producer Doug Liman previously directed the cool comedy Swingers, but writer David Andron's only previous writing credit was for a drama.

The original Knight Rider ran for four seasons beginning in 1982.

Well, from the commericals there is a split light bar in the front, and lets also keep in mind, not ever shot with the 1982 trans am KITT showed the light bar on. So it makes sense that the light bar wont be on all the time. In fact, in teh first season, the light bar of KITT was only on when KITT was in 'survalance mode'. AS for adeptive camoflash, Obviously they did take pointers from Viper, but that doesnt mean this is gonna be viper all over again. Hopefully they are going to use that less and try to stick to the orginial KITT moves like fast chases, smashing through walls, driving on two wheels and jumping over objects with a single bounce. :D

Shapechanging supercar? Yup, I have to agree, definitely sounds like that Viper show that used to be on...

Justin Bruening is fabulous, I think he will make everyone forget that its a Ford now. One look at him and who cares about the car. This coming from a long time All My Children fan, way to go Jamie(Justin)

Sounds like once again it's going to be another case of ruining the original. If they can't do it right, they shouldn't do it at all

Well growing up KR was one of all time favourite tv shows. So if they are making a remake, I guess they wouldnot mess it up. But since I was fan KR 1982 I will go ahead keep hopes up of a good remake, if not I still watch it for old times sake.

Okay, with KITT being a shape-shifting vehicle, and Will Arnett voicing the supercar, it can go quite well, or very horribly bad.

I will not judge it until it airs.

I am wondering if they will swipe the shape-shifting idea from that other supercar show, VIPER?

I am disappointed that William Daniels will not reprise his role, he was great. Arnett may do a good job filling the air in the tires. (hehe)

Not happy with the decision to go with Ford and if they are turning it into a comedy Then I doubt that I will watch it. Very disappointed to hear this, what a let down

The fact that it is Will Arnett providing the voice has piqued my interest in this, but I still think it's going to be hokey.

The first KR was my guilty pleasure, I will certainly give this a chance. But I'm hoping for a good twist like they did with Battlestar Galactica, if they turn it into a comedy - it's over! Oh, and I hate the look of the new KITT, not a good start!

Loved the original movie; not so much this. I'll give it a try. The starring names mean absolutely nothing to me, so it will be ALL new to me.

*sigh* no TA...sad (and I take exception to the "mullet haired" comment - neither my husband nor I have ever worn a mullet, but are huge Firebird fans).

If they turn Knight Rider into a comedy - just blow up the car! Its bound to bomb and be incredibly moronic - sort of like the way they ruined Wild Wild West by putting Wil Smith in it - though he redeemed himself in I ROBOT. I though putting Xzibit from PIMP MY RIDE into the new X-FILES movie (because his name starts with an X) was goofy, but making this into a comedy would be awful.
