Golden Globes downsized

Hollywood's Golden Globe Awards will be presented as a "press conference" instead of the typical ceremony where winners of the film and television awards accept their honors onstage, show organizers said Monday.

The Hollywood Foreign Press Association said in a statement the hour-long event will be covered by the news division of television network NBC.

The makeover results from the Hollywood screenwriters' strike and plans by the writers' union to picket the widely watched awards show, which would prompt many stars to boycott the program.

I'm really upset by this, I love the Awards season, that's when all the best films are out and the golden globes is a great event which consist of both TV and Movie awards. However, I will be even more pissed if they cancel the Oscars. They can't cancel the big 80th Academy Awards.....they just can't.

Well, we may never see the Golden Globe Award recipients on TV, but we will hear about them on the internet or on the newspapers next week. Let's hope "Sweeney Todd" still wins any or all of its 4 nominations. :(

789shadow - How are they screwing everything up? They aren't writing, so shows and movies are effected. Actors are supporting their cause. Hasn't all of this shown you how important writers are? It's their creation, and without them "the show can't go on"

I do like this award show, but the writers are right. If they just give them what they want it will be over.

I dunno, if i was up for a golden globe this year i'd be kind of pissed.....once the writers come back to work they may have some co-worker actors and other people to apologize to.

I usually just get the winners off AOL or MSN anyway. I only watch Oscars/Emmys and I don't even like those. I just know it's what everyone's going to be talking about tomorrow.
