Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage may still be in the early stages of developing their Gossip Girl prequel, but they've got some interesting ideas they're floating around. The latest rumor to come from Camp Schwartz says that the lead character may be having a run in with characters from another Schwartz show.
The Gossip Girl spinoff, which we'll get a peek at during the May 11 episode of Gossip Girl, is set in the 1980s and will follow young Lily van der Woodsen as she sows her oats in Valley-Girl-era Los Angeles. According to EW.com, Schwartz and Savage are thinking about having young Lily mix it up with young versions of Kirsten Nichol and Jimmy Cooper from Schwartz's other teen drama, The O.C..
Why stop at just that one Schwartz show? Why not have Lily babysit a young Chuck Bartowski (Chuck)?
In other Gossip Girl news, the show may not get the ratings its hype would leave you to believe (even President Obama name-dropped the show during a recent speech), but that won't stop the hype from coming.
Banking largely on the sex appeal of its young cast, Gossip Girl hasn't shied away from using its starlets in controversial fashion to get some viewers. But the latest cover of Rolling Stone (pictured above) may top them all. The cover features stars Blake Lively and Leighton Meester sharing an ice cream cone, and… well, it ain't too subtle. There are more pictures at RollingStone.com, including a photo of the two eating licorice… the same piece of licorice. I realize both women are over 21 (15-year-old Taylor Momsen was wisely left out), but "aye caramba!" Is this right, considering the number of young teens who watch the show?

loved the oc , but i wouldnt like a cross over. i am excited for this show though.
Worst idea ever. Hated these two shows, the last thing i want to watch on tv is this prequel.

Do we really need a spin off "prequel"? If your going to do a spin off it should be to help showcase a character who has yet to taste the full brightness of the spotlight. Picking a character like Vanessa for example. We know she knows Dan from way back but I don't know too much else about her personally. not saying she should be a spin off pick but let's not do a prequel please?

i literally laughed out loud when i read "Babysitting Chuck" :P That would be a very interesting episode, all in all, i think that the crossover would be cool! As for the ice cream? Who cares? It's not like they are posing naked or anything. :P

The X-Files is a great show that really needs no introduction. And in case you have been dwelling under a rock for the past several years, the Official Site does have some good background information that will allow you to "catch up" (so that you too can know as little as the rest of us do)
I love the OC (probably more than GG) so if they were to bring back the OC parents as kids, I think I'd actually watch!!!Julie Cooper has to be in it to!!! I love her!!!
I like the thought of them bring Kristin and Jimmy to the show they should also bring Julia Cooper. I liked her she was always getting her self into trouble. I'm more excited about this spin off then I melrose place. If they bright Ashley Simpson to this show I wouldn't be. I'm really excited about this spin off.
the idea about mixing up gg's spinoff and oc's cast is kinda stupid, maybe out there there's another show, which they could include?? maybe lily will have some relations with Caleb Nichols and... oh, I don't even want to continue this nightmare idea. It's stupid, that's all!!!!
Honestly - what is it that wouldn't be "right" about two 21yo's (or 15 yo's for that matter) sharing a cone, or a piece of licorice? Would you consider it just as "bad" if it was a 21 yo man and a 21 yo woman sharing the same?It sounds to me like Mr. Surette is having a severe case of ***phobia... I'm not watching any of Schwartz' shows though, but crossovers are generally fun!
All the comments and opinions (everywhere) about this idea have been 99% positive, so I think they will go through this.
Oh please, sharing an ice cream cone or *gasp* THE SAME STRAND OF LICORICE?! Should we sew a scarlet A to their chests now? Get over it, it's just in fun. As for the crossover, I LOVE the idea. I hope its not just a rumor because I think it would be brilliant. Valley girl Lily would fit right in with the young Kirsten and Jimmy. BRING IT ON!

Having Jimmy and Kristen from The OC come into the show would be cool. Even if it is just a simple Cameo appearance. It could possibly bring in more viewers and add some more excitement to the show.
This IMO stupid Gossip Girl Spin-off just became a MUCH better idea with the fact that Kirsten and Jimmy could be in it...heck id watch for that instead...anything to get me some more O.C. and ill take it :D

That would be so awesome! It would increase ratings to have The OC fans who never got into Gossip Girl tuning in, and may even result in some Kirsten etc cameos in the current-day Gossip Girl show.

I never got into The O.C. so I'm not sure if I'd like that but it could possibly work out. As for Blake and Leighton, the pics are harmless yet they do grab your attention.
I think the show itself has worst things to worry about so who cares about a little licorice?!
