There's a lot going on in the world of Grey's Anatomy, but who cares about that fake-doctor drama when you can focus more on the real-actor hissy fits going on when the camera isn't rolling? The latest from Seattle Grace says two regulars are definitely on the outs at their request.
Katherine Heigl and T.R. Knight will both be leaving the show, actor James Pickens Jr. (Dr. Richard Webber on Grey's) told US Weekly.
"Wherever Katherine goes, I wish her nothing but the best," Pickens said after confirming her departure. When asked about Knight, Pickens said, "He's going too. He just wanted to pursue other career paths."
However, this doesn't mean they're out the door just yet. As EW.com points out, they still have a little thing called a "contract" to sort out. The site also says that their futures are really in the hands of their agent's and ABC's lawyers, and a source says "it's a safe bet that Katherine and T.R. won't be returning as series regulars next season."
Both actors have allegedly expressed interest in leaving Grey's Anatomy; Heigl to pursue a film career and Knight to go somewhere he can get more air time.

i don't want george to go. they should give him more airtime though, he is fairly invisible lately which i do not understand.
izzie has always been weaving between big plots and completely invisible, so i'm guessing she would have less to complain about.
i really hope niether leaves but i'm more worried about TR leaving =(
no please dont let Catherine leave she is star of the show!!!! not the gal that plays Merideth she sucks...but she does need a better story line.. she is the heart and soul of the show...

maybe Katherine didn´t like the latest plot line... camon... izzie having sex with a ghost... it was so painful to watch... must been painful to the actress to act...
Crazy Ghost Sex as you call it, was without question the worst idea any writer could possibly have come up with for this show.
Yeah i can understand why people would be happy to see these 2 characters leave as their stories have become rather unattractive as of late. George with his infidelity (thereby alienating many female viewers), and Izzy with crazy Ghost Sex! All i know is that she better have a tumor that's half the size of her brain because this whole storyline has seriously derailed this show into make-believe land. But it's sad because George was one of my favorite characters on the show. He represented the underdog, never fully sure of himself but doggedly determined to make something of himself. Even with the chief underestimating him and whatnot using him as a glorified skut worker, George was going to make it. Whenever he had small triumphs it was a victory for underdogs everywhere. That the powers that be destroyed this character is a shame. Izzie WAS one of the few decent people on this show, her worst character trait was that she sometimes wore here emotions on her sleeve. But the Izzie and George of this past season won't be missed that much.moreless
George was one of only a handful of reasons I watced this show. With him leaving I may as well stop watching. His scenes made kept me at ease before the inevitably terrible Meredith would take the show again.
Arizona Robbins (Jessica Capshaw) would be a nice gentle way to maintain SOME of Izzie's sweetness. I can hardly wait to see if and how her life unfolds. She's a sweetheart!
I will miss both characters and I wish them well in wherever their paths take them.
For quite some time I have thought that Shonda Rhimes has not been focused on Grey's Anatomy as much as she used to. Maybe SHE is the problem. Some of the story lines are an insult to our intelligence.

I'll miss George, he's always been one of my favorite characters. But I won't miss Izzy. I used to like her, but lately she's become a little pathetic.

Well, I have to say that I am very surprised. The Katherine Heigl rumors leaked out last summer, and I never thought they would actually do it. I don't know how they would write her out, but killing her off would seem to make the most sense, given the current storyline she has. That just seems like a grave mistake on the writers' part. Not everyone likes George and Izzie, but they are key characters who have been around since the very beginning. It seems silly for them to leave now, because if they start cutting off those original characters, the show isn't going to have much further to fly, anyway. Having Izzie die would make for some outstanding TV drama, but once the end comes, it will just feel flat and empty. The drama will be interesting while it's happening, but will the show still stand up without two core characters? It's a risky gamble. To say nothing of the fact that if they really are going to use Izzie's medical crisis to write her off, they're probably going to save it for the tail-end of the season, which means they are just going to drag the viewers along until May. In the meantime, Katherine will be getting even less screen time, since it will be hard to stretch her storyline out unless they only put her in an episode for about five minutes. Another part of me thinks, though, that the writers know better than to kill Izzie, and maybe they'll have her go seek treatment elsewhere and quit the surgical program--maybe seek out her biological daughter or make peace with her mother, or something.moreless

They both will be sadly missed if they leave. I am hoping that it is only a rumor. George is one of my fav. male character and I will be sad if he leaves. I hope that they will be written out of the show properly and not killed off, so that they could return as guess stars.

Izzy and George are too important. If they go it will be like Grissom leaving CSI. The producers have to try and deal with Katherine and T.R.'s quirks if they have any. Isaiah Washington's departure was like losing a limb. And I also feel Kate Walsh and Brooke Smith's departures have shaken the show's foundation. And word is that Melissa George's days are numbered also. They can't afford another loss especially a veteran character.
Waaaaaaa! Izzie has always been my favorite chracter. I agree, though, that her story lines have sucked lately. Psssst, who besides me, thinks that the blood test results got mixed up?
I'm really gonna miss Izzie... but I really think the show will be better without those two. The Grey's cast is huge, and both George and Izzie have had some really bad storylines lately!
yeah right, TR is almost invisible this season. I am sad for him. But thank goodness, Izzy is gone - my most hated TV actor.

Izzy has jumped the shark...the whole her and dead Denny story arc was bizarre and stupid at the same time. I feel sorry for George, because he's been pushed aside. I always liked him and will be sorry to see him go but not surprised.
I never liked Izzy's character. I really like Heigl, but her character annoyed me. I'm hoping she goes to movies. I like 27 Dresses a lot and I think she would do better with other parts.
I really like Izzy's character, I used to like George, but een if he does go, I wont miss. Izzy's character gives the show some humanity, and her character has always been afavourite of mine. I would really miss her if she left.

George is already cast off. we wont see him on the show and no one cares. Izzie will be a major lost, she gives the show a little bit of heart and humanity... hope she doesnt go
George won't be missed. His career is going to crash and burn from now on. However, Heigl has a much better chance of making it big. Beautiful, faily good actor, a couple of movies and fame under her belt; she can do it. I won't particularly miss her. As long as Yang stays, I'm happy. ;)

I am really hating for them two leaving the show that really sucks I think they make the show so fun you never know what they will do next,But still I love the show I havent missed any yet i even watch the reruns

I too use to be an avid fan. The storyline is boring, particuarly after Isaiah Washington left due to his apparently unforgivable remark concerning T.R. Knight's proud disclosure that he is a homosexual. Katherine Heigl is a legend in her own mind. I watched her performance in a twilight zone episode where she goes back in time to murder the infant Adolf Hitler SHe's just mediocre, no Katherine Hepburn.
I used to be a regular viewers, but after the whole Isaiah Washingotn debacle, I slowly started to lose interest... T.R. Kinght leaving, well who really cares, Katherine Heigl, well I'm sure that's something viewers will miss. Run for it people the boat is sinking!!!

Looks like Grey's Anatomy will never be the same thing again, still I can see why this is happening. George hasn't really been a regular since all that "Chief's Intern" bit and the "Izzie and ghost Denny" was just wrong.
When actor's heads get too full of their own self importance, they really need to think the move through. How many others have left successful shows to 'pursue other options" that you never hear of again. An example of one is the girl who played Kate on NCIS. Anyone seen her lately :-)
I think they are going to kill Izzie(or hospitalised, not in a doctor way but a patient way..), don't know about T.R though.
Maybe they'll write Izzie out by having her go to the insane asylum after seeing Denny's ghost one too many times.

boohoo TR isn't getting more air time. I remember TR getting A LOT of time in S3 and S4 so now the others are getting more time they deserve and he whines.
