Grey's Anatomy recruiting Battlestar actress

Paging Dr. Roslin... Dr. Roslin, please report to the front desk.

With Battlestar Galactica ending its frakkin' awesome run in early 2009 (we're still sad about that), television producers have been busy crawling over each other to scoop up the show's talented cast for their own projects. Tricia Helfer (Number Six) will be the female lead on Fox's Inseparable, Tahmoh Penikett (Helo) is off to Joss Whedon's Dollhouse, and Katee Sackhoff is headed to NBC's Lost & Found, to name a few.

I wish I could vote for her this November.

But ABC may have landed the best of the bunch. Mary McDonnell--excuse me, two-time Oscar nominee Mary McDonnell--is in final discussions to join ABC's jumbo-sized hit Grey's Anatomy after a jaw-dropping four-season run as President Laura Roslin on Battlestar Galactica, according to fellow Battlestar superfan Maureen Ryan of The Chicago Tribune.

McDonnell's would-be role on Grey's Anatomy is still under wraps, but she won't be just dropping by to say "So say we all..."--her character is set for a multiple-episode arc. No matter what role she gets in Grey's, one thing's for certain: She'll kick some serious butt.

Speaking of kicking some tail, there has been a Ralph Macchio sighting! The Karate Kid star is set for a guest stint on ABC's Ugly Betty on October 30, as reported by the online branch of OK Magazine. The macho Macchio-man will play a city official in the comedy.

As a fan of both shows I think Mary McDonnell will certainly add something to Grey's Anatomy. The more I think about it, the more I can see she will fit in quiet nicely. As long as ABC writers use her style of acting properly. I hope they don't introduce her as a Hospital administrator or Governor as she has been the boss in BSG. It would be more intresting to see her fit as an expert surgeon in what ever field ABC writer's choose, which actually tests all the other senior surgeons skill base. Maybe knocks their crediability as so called "BEST" in their field and raise them to a higher level. I look forward to seeing what they do with her character and the story lines she's involved in.moreless

Dymond, I think she would be great with a role on 24 or Lost because she has such a strong presence (she played the president on BSG)on screen that she could definetely hold her own against strong male characters.

I think her talent will be wasted on Grey's though.

Its kinda sad to see our beloved President being handed over to a show that has ratings but little substance compaired to BSG that had deep substance but little ratings.

I am over the moon excited about this. Mary McDonnell is such a brilliant actress (shame on you EMMYs for over-looking her this year!). All I can say is bring-it-on!
