The Story of Tracy Beaker actress Dani Harmer is set to reprise her role as an angst-ridden Tracy Beaker in a continuation of her story, provisionally entitled Beaker's Back.
Harmer, who played the child-in-care for five years, will return to the role as a grown-up next autumn. The actress, now 20, says in a statement: "I'm delighted to be returning to the role of Tracy Beaker and finding out how things are developing for her as a young adult."
The new 13-part series will see Tracy working at her old children's home as a care assistant and follows her as she helps the new residents to deal with problems that echo her own fictional childhood.
Beaker's Back will also see the return of actress Lisa Coleman who reprises her original role as Tracy's foster mum Cam.
Award-winning author Jacqueline Wilson, who created both Tracy Beaker shows, says: "So many children ask me what happened to her when she got older, now we can finally find out."
