It's never a good sign to have your show pulled from the schedule in favor of another program. It's never a good sign to have your show pulled from the schedule in favor of a children's program. And it's especially not a good sign to have your show pulled for a children's program that is already airing the night before.
That's exactly what's going down at ABC, which has decided to skip a week of Hank in favor of airing It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown on October 28. The Chuckster's love of gourds is an annual tradition for television (and historically, it's done fairly well in the ratings), so it's no surprise that the special is being aired during primetime.
But as we mentioned above, the Peanuts Halloween special is already airing the night before on ABC. The encore will be a truncated version of an hourlong special, and a lead-in to the rest of ABC's comedy block (which is scheduled to air as planned).
That's just a downright insult to Hank... the exact opposite of a vote of confidence from the network. Running a shrunken-down version of a 43-year old cartoon that everyone has seen like 18 times instead of a primetime comedy featuring one of the sitcom world's most successful stars? Youch! This is like Lucy pulling the football away right as Kelsey Grammer (whom we love dearly) tries to kick it.
(Although to be fair, Charlie Brown might deliver more laughs than Hank which is, well, if you can't say anything nice don't say anything at all.)
Look for Hank to be off the air before Thanksgiving, when ABC can re-air a sped-up version of the 1982 Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade.
Earlier this week, we spoke with Kelsey Grammer and co-star Melinda McGraw about their new show:

This show is beneath Kelsy's classic mode of comedy/drama. The writers are 3rd rate. The show should have never been launched. The family is unbelievable. There is no chemistry between the cast. The wife does not work, and the children well let's say how did they pass the audition? Kelsey get out and save your name!I was able to stand 10 minutes tops ... it was the show where he worked in the mall with his daughter. I wanted to cry it was such bad writing, and acting. Please let this show GO AWAY!
When they replace you with a chopped up version of a Peanuts special that had aired the night before, then you know you are in BIG trouble. I like Kelsey Grammer, but I think the problem is that he is so stereotyped as Frasier, it seems to be hard for him to play a character thats not like Frasier.
It would not be Halloween without seeing the Great Pumpkin! It has to show every year! It is a tradition now.
I could care less about Hank I love the Peanuts. Patty and Violet are my favs.
I like Hank series and I hope they are not going to cancel it before the end of the season!
Hank In The Tank!
I doubt he's struggling for money after frasier....But I've seen 'The great pumpkin' so many times it just gets boring to see it again. Couldn't they come up with a new show having a Halloween special that's worth watching? I don't think that's too much. Sometimes the Simpsons Treehouse ones' aren't bad...

Kelsey Grammer's Side show Bob should have his own series. It will be funnier than The Cleveland Show.
The show is not funny, amusing or entertaining. Kelsey Grammer is still Frazier.
heh good for them hank is nothing compared to the peanuts in ratings. its a no brainer which one to air.
I love charlie brown. i would take him over most of the shows they have playing now. i look forward to seeing the charlie brown specials on the holidays. it never gets old. i will be watch it.
Ooohh! That's gotta hurt, just a bit...
Poor Kelsey Grammer... is it too soon to call a new Frasier spinoff to the airwaves?
MiguelAntilsu he also suffered a heart attack and almost died. Probably more important then his career.
Kelsey Grammer is not having a good 2009. He starred in that crappy "Fame" remake and his new show "Hank" only has a score of 37 on Metacritic. It won't be long before ABC decides to give it the slip.
I though all the old CBS Charlie Brown specials were only 30 minutes long.
The Frasier curse is still in full effect.
Most of us who have seen it 18 times, now have kids of our own. I love introducing the classics to my toddler. It's nice to have it come on at a reasonable time too. I've seen classics like this come on at 9 pm! Most toddlers are in bed by then. We'll be watching!
He needs to fire his agent for putting him in Hank. I am a fan of Kelsey Grammer but I'd like to see him in a good show (Back to You wasn't terrible either). I guess he's typecast in that "Frasier role" but none the less, if Ed O'Neill (Modern Family)can find a good working script I'm sure Kelsey can. Hank however is not.
So it began... Hank is on the way to get the axe!!
XO XO
:):):):)
Sounds good to me, ABC knows that the Charlie Brown Halloween special will get higher ratings then a Hank episode.
i'd watch Peanuts Halloween over Hank any day
Usually when people like Kelsey Grammer and Patrica Heaton they both had good shows that lasted. After the show goes off it's always hard for them to find another good sitcom. I personally thought Hank was better then middle but not saying much both pretty dumb. Give it time Middle be next.
owned. he hasn't had any success since fraiser. he needs to retire.
