Have a laugh with the BET Comedy Awards

BET today announced its nominees for the 2005 BET Comedy Awards, the network's annual event honoring films, television shows, and stand-up comedians it considers to be outstanding.

Veteran comedian Steve Harvey will host the star-studded awards show, which will be broadcast from the Pasadena Convention Center. Scheduled to appear is Martin Lawrence, recipient of the 2005 BET Comedy Icon Award, as well as many other celebrities.

Some of the nominees for Outstanding Comedy Series include The Bernie Mac Show, Girlfriends, and That's So Raven.

In the Outstanding Lead Actor category, the nominees are Bernie Mac for The Bernie Mac Show, Damon Wayans for My Wife and Kids, Duane Martin for All of Us, Flex Alexander for One on One, and Reggie Hayes for Girlfriends. For Outstanding Lead Actress, BET has nominated Eve, Kellita Smith, and Raven-Symoné, among others.

In the running for the award for best stand-up, called the Platinum Mic Award, are Adele Givens, Alex Thomas, DL Hughley, Kevin Hart, and Sheryl Underwood.
