Over the last few years, HBO has seen its once unbeatable lineup of original programming dwindle away (The Sopranos, Deadwood, The Wire, Six Feet Under) and has been unable to plug those holes with new fare that could stay afloat (John From Cincinnati, Rome, Lucky Louie).
But there's one program that's still going from the network's glory days--Entourage.
"I'm not a real actor, I just play one on TV."
HBO isn't letting its prized comedy sink--Entourage is coming back for its sixth season, says The Hollywood Reporter. The show is currently in its fifth season.
"I never imagined when we started that we would make it to six seasons," said creator Doug Ellin, echoing my sentiments.
Entourage follows a group of friends who latch on to the success of their buddy Vincent Chase, who is an up-and-coming actor in Hollywood. Chase is always on the border of hitting the big time, and his buddies have no problem riding his coattails.
Entourage is also a fixture at the Emmys thanks to Jeremy Piven's award-winning supporting role as diarrhea-mouthed superagent Ari Gold. Also starring in the show are Adrian Grenier, Kevin Connolly, Kevin Dillon, and Jerry Ferrara.

I think entourage is the most enjoyable tv show now.. sex and the city of men as everyone calls it.. Jeremy Piven is amazingly great in this show.. they could make a better final episode for 5th season with making it longer.
I watched the very first episode and I haven't been dissapointing yet. The best show on HBO of course but dare I say the best show on Televison.
After a somewhat lackluster 4th season, Entourage definitely returns to the glory days with the 5th. If only the same could be said of Vince's career.

In my opinion the thing about Entourage is that it doesn't get old. It's progressing naturally and there aren't those wird story jumps that you come across in other shows. And Air and Drama are funny as hell!

I love this show. It's one of my all-time favorites. But come on, we all know this show has only been on for a little more than 2 seasons. When your episodes are 23 minutes long, there's only 12 a season and you have a brilliant premise as this show does, staying afloat for six seasons isn't remarkable, it's expected.

Since The Wire left, HBO has been dwindling with anything near decent. Entourage is good, but not great; the past 2 seasons were mediocre, however season 5 is switching up the dry repetitiveness, making it one of the best shows on HBO. It will most likely always gather large amounts of viewers who are more mainstream and commercial, due to the lack of thinking involved, which goes against the grain of much of the HBO fare.
The show should focus more on Ari. He really makes the show what it his. Every scene he is in is a riot. I think the whole Vince character/storyline has "jumped the shark" after Aquaman. As a character, Vince just hasn't been that interesting...don't really care what happens to him anymore.

Piven makes this show worth it. I've been a fan from the start and was hoping that season five would bring back the fire to the show which I think the fourth season lacked in comparison to the early episodes, and it has done just that. I hope with an early pickup that they won't get lazy and continue to produce top-notch episodes.
I agree that Jeremy Piven deserved his Emmy, he makes the show for me! Glad it's on for yet another season, I don't watch anything else on HBO!

Entourage is great. The latest episode was funny as, Piven deserved the emmy, he acts his arse off for that part. bring on season 6.
