HBO used last night's Season 2 premiere of Boardwalk Empire to let viewers know it has a few other shows as well. The network unveiled the first teaser for Season 2 of Game of Thrones, a fantasy epic about (among other things) a mentally dim stablehand who carries a boy on his back and can only speak his own name, and an honest-to-goodness trailer for Luck, a horse-racing drama with a pedigree that should make any fan of quality television salivate.
We'll start with the Game of Thrones tease, which is really only a few seconds of flaming text. But let's be honest here, when it comes to the meticulous Game of Thrones, even a flash of Jon Snow's footprint would count as a necessary bit of information.
The closest Luck comes to mythological beasts is Nick Nolte, but I'm excited about it all the same. From Michael Mann (Heat) and David Milch (creator of Deadwood), Luck is set in the world of horse racing and stars Dustin Hoffman, Nolte, and Dennis Farina. I repeat, Michael Mann and David Milch. This will almost certainly be awesome.
HBO hasn't announced a premiere date for either show, but conventional wisdom says Game of Thrones will return in April and Luck will debut in January.

Now, if they would only create a Big Love season 6 my life would be complete lol.
Yeah. I LOVE HBO. I'll watch almost any show of theirs.
Im busy reading Clash of Kings (second book in the GoT series) ... season 2 is gonna be awesome!
I can't wait for Season 2 of GOT but seriously all I get was 15 seconds of lameness. The next teaser better be longer.
The worst thing about the teaser is that they made it while just having started filming.
That means that this teaser will haunt me for at least half a year. Damn you Game of Thrones!!
Wouldn't that Game of Thrones teaser line be more appropriate for season 3?
Can't wait for Season 2 though.
I absolutely can't wait for the new season of Game of Thrones! I didn't see any footprint, but I wonder if this teaser is giving away more than we think. I look forward to a more detailed trailer!
Cant Wait until April???????
Wow... that literally WAS only a few seconds of flaming text. Never has 'teaser' literally meant as much until now.
Luck looks amazing with its stellar cast. Again, I cannot help but be impressed how the stars of the silver screen are all heading back to the television medium.
I got excited for the GoT trailer. My mistake
Ah, I was wondering why the imbedded videos weren't appearing for me. Damn US and your hatred of Canada.
They're just jealous of our . . . . . Heath care? Nah, Obama Care has fixed all that . . . . .bwahahahahaha!
I find horse racing particularly boring but the combo of Hoffman, Nolte and Farina makes me want to check it out for sure.
Why oh why does a story about horse racing involve the Mafia? Is this the 1920s? People are going to think the mob runs horse racing or that horse owners are mob bosses and not people like Bobby Flay. :-(
That GoT teaser was more like a sneak peek of a teaser of the actual teaser.
When they say teaser they mean it doesn't tell us *** all don't they?
Oh man! What a great teaser. With the flaming text, the footprint, and the other thing . . . . . Sigh. Okay, I haven't watched the teaser. I can't. It's just a white screen in between the paragraphs. I think this is all a master plan by the U.S to annex Canada into the 51st state. First they torture us by dangling teasers and previews that we can't watch, and then . . . . . Alright, that is as far as I've gotten, but it's a conspiracy I tell ya.
I'm tellin ya AA, just a case of Sleeman's Honey Brown sent my way and I'll getcha hooked-up!! (Still gotta take Howie in the deal though!!)
Sorry man. Howie's a deal breaker.
Dustin Hoffman FTW! I am really excited about Luck. Its gonna be awesome.
