HBO's Enthusiasm not curbed

Grouchy guys rejoice--your idol will return.

Larry David and HBO will begin production on the sixth season of semi-scripted comedy Curb Your Enthusiasm. Variety reports that the show will begin production in October.

Curb's future had been uncertain after season five, in which the show saw a more than 50 percent decline in viewership from the previous season. The season finale--in which David lay on his deathbed--seemed to indicate that even he thought the show had run its course.

Critics were not so kind, with Brian Lowry in Variety writing that the show had "reached its nadir," and the New York Post's Adam Buckman asking, "Has anyone else [noticed] how lousy the new episodes of Curb are?"

At the TV Critics Association press tour in July, HBO chairman Chris Albrecht stated that the show's future was in David's hands.

"Larry was very unsure after last season," Albrecht said at the TCA. "He needed to be inspired."

Glad Larry decided to comeback for season 6. Season 4 was the show best so far. Season 5 was really good look what it had to live up to. I think the show is one of the best comedies on tv and after it and The Wire go off the air will there be a need for HBO?? Keep up the good work Larry.

Season 6 - Thank you so much King Larry! The show has always been good, Season 5 is only poor compared to perhaps Season 4, which was simply amazing.Every season of CYE is approximately exponentially better than every other show on television.

Long Live THE CURB!! I love the show, and Larry is amazing. The show hasn't gotten stale, it's all of the fans who are going downhill. The real fans will watch until the end, no matter what the ratings say, or the critics, you can't deny it's one of the greatest shows ever.

After the shear brilliance of season 4, I do believe that season 5 was a stinker. Especially the finale. But I realize Larry realizes this, and have faith season 6 will be amazing.

Season 5 was funny, I don't get all the criticism when even a weak Curb Your Enthusiam is better than 99% of the rest of the stuff on TV. Do a season 6 Larry David and then come back for seasons 7-33

I don't know what is the matter with you people that think Curb has gone so dramatically downhill. Sure, the last season may not have equaled the first few, but there was still plenty funny stuff to hold onto. What do critics know? Critics are the people that lack the talent to actually do the things that they deride.
I for one, and I'm sure that I don't stand alone, am thrilled to hear that Curb's coming back for a sixth.
If you feel you've "outgrown" Curb, or that it no longer has any laughs to offer, then for pete's sake go watch the latest pseudo-reality regurgitation and leave the comedy to the experts.
