Here's Your First Look at Ted Danson as CSI's New Boss (VIDEO)

Here it is, the moment you've been waiting for: CBS has released the first footage of former Cheers actor Ted Danson in his new role as the boss of CSI. Danson replaces Lawrence Fishburne, who left the show earlier this year after two and a half seasons. The new character's name is D.B. Russell—a seemingly quiet type who, according to the teaser below, is good with kids and shops for invisible tennis balls at Target. Watch the clip and weigh in—is Danson a good fit for CSI, or would you rather see someone else in the role?

I can't see the video clips where I am, but glad to see Ted Danson back in action. Agree, though, that Grissom made the show.

Well, I guess if William Peterson isn't an option, Teddy will do. I wasn't really a fan of Lawrence Fishburne on the show. I may start watching CSI again!

New Boss? Langston was never the boss. Willows is the boss of the CSI. Brass is the boss of the crime lab after Ecklie became undersheriff. But Langston, no. But the others do look up to him as an authority figure. Didn't Ray say he's CSI One on his first day on the job? Greg even outranks him.

Ted Danson is ALREADY better than Fishburne ever was. He is such an improvement, and can't wait to watch him this season. Just wish we could forget how bad LF was for way too long!

I'm looking forward to it! He looks like he will fit right in.

Keep mentioning replacing Lawrence Fishburne's character with Ted Danson and he will be the boss. But Catherine was the shift supervisor, has she been demoted?

fishburn was lower but he was the center piece of the show during his short but what felt annoyingly long stay on the show. he might be taking her postion due to being higher ranked than her or simply due to her leaving the show suposedly.

I can't watch any CSI's. I watch television for character and plot development, but in most procedural's(excluding House and Bones), and especially CSI, a character arc can take 5-6 long seasons to excruciatingly unfold. I know I will probably draw the ire of millions of rabidly devout fans, but these shows are nothing more than crime scene porn, and don't even get me started on Law and Order.

I had my doubts. But from this clip, I'm impressed and looking forward to seeing what else he brings to the table in light of Marg's impending departure.
