Heroes gets full season pickup

NBC's new superhero drama Heroes has been given a full-season pickup from the network.

In week one, Heroes won the time period in adults 18-49 and came in second in overall viewers. Week two saw ratings hold steady for the story of ordinary people who discover they possess superpowers.

"Heroes has delivered exceptional ratings since its premiere, and we're even more impressed with the quality of the upcoming episodes," said NBC TV president Kevin Reilly. "The best is yet to come over the course of a full season with this newest drama sensation."

NBC has received a lot of positive feedback from critics this season, but not so much from TV viewers. Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip premiered underwhelmingly, Friday Night Lights struck out, and production on Kidnapped will stop once the show's 13-episode commitment is finished.

One gray cloud for Heroes: Appliance maker Emerson Electrics is suing NBC for using its product without authorization in a scene from the show's pilot. The scene depicts teen cheerleader Hayden Panettiere (Claire Bennet) accidentally sticking her hand into the In-Sink-Erator, only to find the mangled appendage quickly repairing itself.

Emerson wants NBC to stop airing the scene in repeats and in syndication.

I love this show, but they need to put it on a different time. My husband is a football fanatic and he loves his NFL MOnday nigh footbal! Both times I've had to watch it from the website. I'm glad they have been posting the episodes online, otherwise I wouldn't be able to see it. I have to get a TIVO.

Yeah! This is great! I was so afraid they were going to cancel this show before we got a chance to see more of the characters!!

Yes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is for sure the best new show and pretty much better than a lot of returning shows. I mean, lets look at the new shows this year:

Shark: James Woods cannot act. I think we can all agree upon that.

Kidnapped: It just wasn't a good show.

Standoff: The action is pretty good, but the humor sucked and the side stories were below average.

Yeah, however, some shows were good. Six Degrees and The Class are good. So, congrats Heroes! Unfortunately for NBC, this is all they got right.

How does one go about giving feedback to NBC? I would love to give my positive feedback on some of the new shows, such as Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip and Friday Night Lights, but have not found a way to do so. I have not had the chance to see Heroes or Kidnapped yet, yet will try to do so. However, early on I was put off by a commercial promoting Heroes. It was of one of the characters jumping off a structure as if to kill herself, yet she did not get hurt. As a pediatric nurse who sees a lot of suicides and suicide attempts in the teen age group, this was very offensive to me. I only saw this commercial once, so perhaps NBC received feedback on how offensive it was.

Well, I've never, ever heard of Emerson. I bet sales will increase now that one of their products have been on TV. Most companies pay for product placement and Emerson got some free airtime. So what if Claire's hand was mangled? It healed up in seconds. No problemo.

Love this show! I'm hoping that it lasts four or five years. As for the Emerson garbage disposal thing, I think they're just trying to get attention for having their product in the show (even if it was without permission)

Nice too hear about Heroes, I like the show. Not surprised by Kidnapped, it was awful, I find Vanished to be alot better. Im also happy to hear about Eureka, love that quirky show!

I hear you. It made me nervous too when Kidnapped was announced to be axed midway through. It's strange though cause Kidnapped is just as good as Heroes in that they're both "thinking" tv shows, but I think the reason for Heroes survival is the T n' A which makes me sick. The porn woman and the cheerleader, c'mon! And it's a little annoying that they keep putting the cheerleader in all the avertisement photos as if she's the main character when there doesn't seem to be just one. Perhaps this is the cause for the demise of the good shows, too much thinking and not enough eye candy?? Well, Heroes will be fun to watch regardless.

Also, you can always just download these TV shows from the internet. The more popular ones like Heroes and Studio 60 download quick and are available the next morning to download.

Fantastic. I was pissed to read Kidnapped would only be gettng a 13 episode season and feared NBC would be asclowns about THIS series as well. Glad they aren't.

Great News! Now I guess there will be pirated versions of the pilot out there if they decide to fuzz it out or remove it.

So glad heroes made the cut and I don't have to worry about it getting cancelled. I hope Friday Night Lights and Studio 60 make the cut as well. They are both good shows.

Heroes is by far my favorite of all the new shows.

I had high hopes for The Nine, but it just doesn't look like it'll be all that great after the first ep.

Jericho is good, but Heroes rules!

Don't really see the "super show" here. Most of episode 2 was from episode 1. So far they have only introduced the characters. But how could it NOT GET PICKED UP. It's X-MEN for television. Some very high grossing movies with little plot, but lots of demo appeal. I hope they actually do something with the show now that they've been picked up. Don't be so safe and formulaic.

Studio 60 is (as was West Wing) too smart for the average American viewer. Why do you think Deal or No Deal is such a hit? No skill (or intelligence) involved at all.

Claire didn't accidentally put her hand into the In-Sink-Erator. She did it intentionally, going after her ring, because she knew she wouldn't get permanently hurt.

That's how I feel about it, and I think the lawsuit is frivolous, other than protecting the copyright. It's a given that sticking one's hand into a garbage disposal, intentionally or otherwise, can result in serious injury. There was no damage to their reputation there.

YES!!!! I LOVE HEROES! but im kinda pissed that nbc hasnt really gotten the ratings it deserves. kidnapped, whose ratings are horrible, is a pretty good show. I love studio 60, but its ratings are dropping every week, and friday night lights, probably one of the BEST new shows of the fall, had horrible ratings!

WHY!??!?!?!!?!? NBC HAS THE BEST SHOWS

Emerson just wants some money. Maybe Emerson should get a better job. Anyway I'm glad to know that Heroes is getting a full season. I hope it continues to have many viewers so that they can have many more seasons. I know I'll be watching.

You guys don't get it. The national publicity generated for Emerson Electrics is huge. They don't care about results of the lawsuit. It wasn't stupid of them to sue, it was genius.

Good show! So what's next, chainsaw manufacturers suing the producers of "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre" movies? How about Chrysler suing the makers of "Christine"? This will never stand up in court. Ridiculous!
