Heroes Might Get One More Disappointing Season

... Heroes, that lovable NBC drama about very dramatic superheroes, may get one final shot at disappointing its viewers; rumor has it that the show will get a final 13-episode season to tie up its loose ends. With NBC looking at a schedule that resembles Swiss Cheese, it will need all the stopgaps it can muster. The question is: Is 13 episodes enough to clean up the mess Heroes has made? [THR]

... Fox has ordered Panic Attack, a reality show where participants with phobias face their fears. This isn't really great news or anything, but check out this picture of the hosts (in the link), who happen to be the UK's top life-coaches-turned-reality-show-hosts. Here's a tip: If you're taking life advice from a guy who looks like a tranny magician who doesn't wear sleeves, just give up now. [Variety]

... FX is keepin 'it country with its newest series. Hot off the heels of its Kentucky-set Justified, the network will tell tales of organized crime in the South with Outlaw Country. If the trend keeps up, my dream of a redneck version of Jersey Shore just might come true. [Variety]

... Remember the V countdown clock that ruined an episode of Lost? A similar thing happened on the BBC, as a dramatic moment in the new Doctor Who was invaded by a dancing cartoon promoting another show. Just as new Doctor Matt Smith began a powerfully emotional monologue, a graphic advertising Wizard of Oz talent-search Over the Rainbow popped up, killing the mood. It's only a matter of time before our television screens become tiny viewing windows surrounded by ads for Viagra and ShamWows. [Guardian]

... Marcia Gay Harden is joining USA's Royal Pains for a multi-episode arc. The Oscar-winner (2000's Pollack) will play Dr. Elizabeth Blair, a board member of Hamptons Heritage Hospital. Hopefully that's enough information to make it sound like I know what's going on in the show. [EW]

... And to leave you on a bright and cheery note, dolphin trainer Ric O'Barry says Flipper committed suicide by drowning herself so she wouldn't have to live in captivity. Have a wonderful day! [SF Gate]

Give Heroes half a season just to kill everybody off and keep Chuck!

Tons of good shows are in trouble, getting cancelled way before their time and this show stayed way BEYOND its time. Absolute rubbish, both to the show and that it was allowed to stayed on air.

IF Heroes is really getting another chance then they really have no reason at NBC to cancel Chuck. In my opinion Chuck is a much better show quality wise, and now has higher ratings. Heroes was a one season wonder. Chuck has staying power...btw I do not bid ill to fans of Heroes if you enjoy it good for you. Also, at least Heroes is a scripted series which makes it better than any reality TV garbage.

Heroes has been on it's downward spiral since people realised in season 2 supposedly Sylar was infected with the virus that robbed him of his abilities. That singular act of not exploring this simple character while he was stranded(and developing his layers early) in someplace remote seemed like the beginning of the end for me. Well I'll stick around to see what happens. Because as Peter said "She(claire) could change Everything". &-)

You couldn't be more right, "niteshayde81 "! Heroes is an excellent show that deserves a fifth season. But i do wish that dey hire som new writers to help out with new storylines for the new season.

I really liked Heroes the first couple of seasons and then they just lost me. I still watch it, but I am so confused. I don't know what any of the characters are supposed to be doing and who they are supposed to be saving.

I also really liked heroes when it first started. But I agree it needs to be cancelled now. I have no idea how someone could say "give it a chance to flourish" since it has had quite a long run. The plot lines are getting extremely lame now. I think that if they had just made a season for heroes, one for villians, and a 3rd season for the final fight between heroes and villians, it would have gone down as an amazing show that everyone would rewatch again. As it stands, I wouldn't watch a LOT of it again if I were to because much of it went down hill. Prison Break suffered the same problem.

I LOVE Heroes...I wish the writes on here would STOP putting it down. If you don't like it, don't watch it. I am very happy that they are going to a 5th season to wrap everything up. They needed that...

Time to let this sinking Titanic rest. Enough is enough. The novelty wore off after the first couple of seasons and everything since was just rehash. Let it end where it is and maybe revisit it in 10 years.

sad heroes is going to end. but thats what happens when nbc takes over their series after first season

    Apr 28, 2010
  • enrazo75

Yeah, maybe if they got a different group of writers to write the final season. Giving these same writers another season is just a waste of everyones time. To whoever does write the final season, listen to fans and give them what they want as a collective not what you want to happen.

In my opinion, (and granted, it's just an one opinion in many) Heroes is one of the greatest things american television has ever created. The problem we're having here is that american people are impatient sheep whose main goal in life is to attain the instant gratification factor that so many children are afflicted with. Give Heroes the time it needs to flourish, because right now it could go anywhere. Look at X-Men, right? It was canceled after a few short years but all it took was for the greatness of Chris Claremont to bring it out of retirement and make it the best selling comic book ever. Personally, I have loved every episode of Heroes. But I find myself wondering how much MORE i would love it if it were helmed by someone like Joss Whedon. Point is, this show is awesome and all you detractors out there know it. You're all sheep! It takes one critic with his head up his arse to say something bad and you all jump on the bandwagon like lost little puppies. Open your eyes, people. Think for yourselves and stop letting the "elite" do it for you.moreless

re: Heroes - if the writers take the direction of "all bets are off, no holds barred" then this could work. Start killing 'em off left / right and centre (the actors not the writers) and end with a double episode long super battle full of death and destruction - exactly what the Smallville Doomsday fight should've been.

Heroes has been a great show from the start. I was disappointed with Season 2 but I understood that the writers' strike had a lot to do with that whereas many so called 'fans' didn't provide any such leeway..I mean come on! How much better would season 2 have been had the original plot of having Maya transform from the panic-attack prone whiner she was into the plague neutralising world saviour she was supposed to become?Season 3 saw a return of cliff hanger endings (Arthur Petrelli about to rip off Hiro's head... Angela Petrelli telling Sylar he was her son) and actually made Sylar into the psychotic killer we all knew he could be ("Cake!").Season 4 continued Peter's struggle with having to pick himself up and dust himself off since his father had stolen his powers preveious season. Sylar eventually repents and on top of that, became Peter's friend and in the end, proved himself a hero rather than the villain we had all come to think of him as - save for that brief trip to the future where we found him making pancakes in Clare's one time abode with the mystery boy Noah whom I had hoped to find was actually HRG Noah reduced to child form by some unknown time altering ability Samuel's end in Season 4 proved disappointing for my money but the rest of the season was great as far as I was concerned despite the budget cuts which on a show involving superhero/villain abilities is obviously a major factor to keep in mind.My hope is that like season 9 of Smallville, this upcoming season of Heroes proves so on form that there is a demand for more. While I doubt NBC would be so bold, I think it would serve them well to take a leaf out of True Blood's formula of tittlating its audience each episode for the critics so obviously hard of thinking as to make comments about episodes and entire seasons they haven't even paid attention to!To appreciate Heroes, you need not be a fanboy or fangirl of comic books like X-Men. You need only take it as a given that these abilities have manifested and be able to handle ideas about evolutionary biology, enjoy a good mystery and be prepared to enjoy the drama before reaching the epic action scenes. To the thinking person, such ambitions are not too lofty but perhaps there just aren't enough fantasy indulgers who think so as to give Heroes the ratings it deserves. Then again, maybe it's just a case of too many viewers online instead of on television and not enough compensation for that at NBC head office. I mean, wasn't Heroes the most downloaded show or something? Doesn't that give a clue as to how much folks actually enjoy it?MORE Heroes PLEASE!!!moreless

For the ending, I know I want the last conflict not to involve the main "villain". So many fantasy stories end with the good guys battling the evil villain that they've barely seen. I may have this, but afterwards i want a less epic but more emotional conflict. I want it to be more personal. I want it to be an emotional conflict with someone they know. The ending will probably involve the main characters (whichever ones I determine still "good") all in a room tied up and their lives being threatened. It's sort of the surprise final hazard.http://www.articlesbase.com/health-articles/muscle-max-xl-review-where-to-buy-muscle-max-xl-2205147.html

Ok, this is going to be long, and I'm tired so it won't be written well. I should first say that I have written very little but planned out almost the whole 5 part series. Anyway, I have a problem with the ending of my story. There are four main characters, who have all teamed up, and I need to decide if I want one of them to go bad and betray the other 3, or if I want one of the supporting characters to do it.Muscle Max XL

They need to start some massive in the streets Godzilla kind of Hero on Hero action. Wipe out some cities, get your genocide on, and get rid of the soap opera drama. It needs more dark evil apocalyptic unfathomable death, and less lesbian college flashbacks you California fruitcake writers.

I haven't watched Heroes since the season 2 finale. Season 1 was great. So I stuck it out during season 2 in hopes of seeing some of that brilliance from the first season. Unfortunately, there was none. Too bad because it had the potential to be one of those unforgettable shows.

Heroes has sucked since the end of season 1. so if this is the last season then good. i could care less. they screwed it up. taking away hiro's and peter's full powers is stupid. they're both useless otherwise. this past season was the best one since season 1, if you want to overlook the carnival, i hated every scene that had to do with that.
