Heroes Reborn: Watch the First Footage and Find Out What the Series Is Actually About (VIDEO)

Heroes Reborn, the new reboot of the once-mighty NBC series Heroes, looks a lot like... Heroes. Following a few cryptic teases of what's in store for the new series, NBC has finally released a Heroes Reborn trailer with bona-fide new footage of ordinary people being totally extraordinary.

NBC also released some details about Heroes Reborn's plot, and it sounds a lot like... X-Men (which is what Heroes also looked a lot like). Here's the description straight from NBC's mouth: "A year ago, a terrorist attack in Odessa, Texas, left the city decimated. Blamed for the tragic event, those with extraordinary abilities are in hiding or on the run from those with nefarious motives. Two such vigilantes include Luke (Zachary Levi) and Joanne (Judith Shekoni), who are seeking to avenge a tragic loss. Noah Bennet, aka H.R.G. (Jack Coleman), has gone off the grid but conspiracy theorist Quentin Frady (Henry Zebrowski) finds him and opens his eyes to the truth behind the Odessa tragedy."

Here's the trailer, try not to scream too loudly when Hiro shows up.

Heroes Reborn premieres Thursday, September 24 at 8pm on NBC. Will you watch?

Maybe they'll finally explain what the heck happened to Hanna Gitleman who was at the house with Ted and Matt and was in the 5 years past episode, but strangely disappeared as if she never existed.

Looks great but that footage of Hiro is from season one, nor new footage. Heopfully they keep one season on track and not go completely off the rails like the original series did after a while.

Ok seriously how many years are supposed to have passed because Hiro looks like the future Hiro we've met before.

Also more exciting is that PETER PAN from once upon a time, because I will cry tears of joy, love that kid.

The whole thing is totally bull but I will hate watch it for some of the new actors, I suppose.

Halleluja! Praise the return of the Hiro. And with him one of the greatest messed up shows on television. Let's all hope future Hiro knows better this time.

Just started re-watching it today and that kid says the exact line that Peter did in the pilot
'You ever get the feeling that you were meant to do something extraordinary'

Very original Tim Kring :) HA

I am definitely gonna watch it but still fucking hate NBC for cancelling a much better show

As one of the few who actually enjoyed the entire run of the original series (although I'm not saying there weren't issues), I have to say I'm excited for this.

Not trying to be a dick here or anything... but in what way was Heroes considered groundbreaking?

I was about to say the same thing

Lost, 24, The Sopranos, The WIre - those were groundbreaking

Heroes had a great first season then the rest sucked

The first season was ground breaking in terms of it's originality. The characters from the first season were not supposed to continue in the second, and that would have been ground breaking, but success scared the producers and they didn't realise that people watch the show for the story and not the stars. Now there are other shows who are successfully doing this like True Detective and American Horror Story.

I I'd say quite a lot of people (myself included) watch a show for the stars that are in it. Some shows can pull off changing the actors for the next season (like Fargo), but for many others, it wouldn't work. For example, if Dexter wasn't in Dexter, or Jack Bauer wasn't in 24, or if Hannibal wasn't in Hannibal, or if Sam and Dean weren't in Supernatural, or if the female clone wasn't in Orphan Black. Sure, just replace them with another serial killer, hunter, or clone. That would work well.

I quit watching Heroes because there got to be too many heroes and you couldn't keep track of what the heck was going on.

He hardly got any screen time anyway, so how is the show now days I basically treated that episode where Wo - Fat died as the series finale and haven't watched it since :)

It's got its ups and downs, but I mostly enjoy it. There's been some real gems this past season, stand-alone episodes where they swayed from the normal recipe and instead delivered some real gut-wrenching and heartwarming stories.

Odessa, Texas has to be the most boring terrorist target ever... and trust me I lived there (in Midland). Did they want to take out the cast of Friday Night Lights?

At least the storyline gives us a reason our favourite heroes aren't returning (like Peter and Sylar) as they are all in hiding. Maybe, if it's successful and done right, aka multiple seasons, we can see some of them show up?

I don't think this "hiding" thing is even close to a good excuse. Can you see anyone, especially Claire and Peter actually HIDING. Sure they might not be walking the streets but they would be doing their underground rebel crap. And Sylar wanting to prove himself as a good guy and with all his abilities he would have this handled in a matter of minutes. I don't buy. I will still watch it, grudgingly, but I don't think this is a valid justification for why all the good characters are gone.

Yeah, I know. It's just that Hiro and HRG just aren't enough for me. I loved Peter and Sylar in the original, even when Peter charged into the meeting invisible and turned on the flames....but then the writers ruined it by having his dad suck the powers out of him.

OMG I know I hated when he lost his ability more or less, I didn't like the one ability at a time (having to touch them) bull shit.

Yeah that didn't really make sense. surely when he injected himself with the catalyst, his new power would be the same as the old right? I liked the theory someone mentioned where he does actually have the same ability but his recent experiences have affected him empathic recall and thus his ability.

This looks okay , hope they recapture some of that Heroes season 1 magic, but please enough with the Asian stereotype , why do all the asians happen to wield a samurai sword ! For once can we have an asian chick who isn't a bad ass fighter , why can't she just be a normal cheerleader :)

I agree. They can't get enough of it. In the Syfy series Dark Matter there is a Asian guy with guess what? A freaking Katana. And yes a head already rolled.
And FIY cheerleading is big in Japan. http://www.fjca.jp/ I can't read it either. Just look at the pictures. By the way cheerleading is not without danger. In the US cheerleading is the number 1 female sport with the most catastrophic injuries. Break a leg. (same goes for the series).

And Odessa is of strategic importance. It is a major transport and energy corridor. Whoever has control over this region has control of Euro-Asia.
Just sayin'

I'm watching no matter what. They mention a Odessa attack and all I think about is the episode in heroes when Sylar explodes because the guy that could smell fear and make him stronger killed his son "noah" I want to say that was season 3. I'm sure it's no the same storyline but I wonder if that's where they got the inspiration.

I'll watch this out of sheer loyalty, even though the show gave me no reason to be loyal to the it since it got exponentially worse as each episode went on after season 1... but whatever.

Weird to see Pan on this, and sounded like he'll have a fake American accent which will probably annoy me :p

It's funny how the original Heroes established what the future Hiro would look like. Although I don't think we'll see as much of him as fans would like.

I worry this isn't the Future Hiro we'd all spent the entire series hoping to finally see, but just a lame red herring to throw us off. Hiro was a fun, albeit, incredibly annoying character. Future Hiro gave us a hope of a better Hiro to come along and show us how truly powerful he could be given focus and control. Sadly, this never came to be, and the more we saw of Hiro, the more of a disappointment his story became, which sadly, wasn't much unlike the rest of the series.

Yah just a thought. I might be totally forgetting something. But didn't Hiro lose the ability to time travel after his tumour or something, I thought he could only teleport now. In which case this show has some explaining to do.

I honestly don't recall. I kept getting so annoyed any time I saw his character I just started tuning him out, especially when it became uncertain if the limitations were from his own psyche, the tumor, or outside forces.

Agreed, they both had an unlimited amount of character potential with their individual abilities, then you throw in Matt's baby who could grant powers and remove them, and then Ando, who could supercharge powers, mixed with one of the most powerful telepaths in the world along with someone whose powers gave him access to all of time and space? The story potential was unfathomable...

Throughout the entire series, I never really understood why Claire was important or necessary for the series. Completely wasted character with an especially useful power. Of course, this could again be applied to much of the series....

Incorrect, Odessa is where the original series had Noah Bennett (aka Horn Rimmed Glasses) and his daughter, Claire, the indestructible girl. Even more importantly in Heroes lore, it had Primatech Paper where Noah worked, which was a front for The Company, the shadowy firm that dealt with those with powers.

Ok makes a little more sense I had totally forgotten that is where they were living. I moved to Midland/Odessa well after the series ended. It is in the middle of no where and has absolutely nothing of interest... except jobs.

Well, that's probably why the show, Heroes Reborn, is shockingly enough based on the lore from the Heroes universe and not real life lore.

I'm sure the "terrorist attack" will end up being revealed as something power related anyway. Some new hero with the unfortunate luck to inherit explosion based powers, or powered individuals squaring off against one another (possibly even the season's big bad)
