Heroes' Samuel Jumps Into Stargate Universe

... Robert Knepper isn't done playing bad guys. The former T-Bag from Prison Break and Samuel from Heroes will be the future Simeon in Stargate Universe's second season. Simeon is an ex-con and member of the Lucian Alliance, and I'll assume the nerds out there know what that means. [Gateworld]

... Emmy winner Jaime Pressly will do her first regular funny stuff since My Name is Earl when she joins the upcoming CBS comedy pilot from the creators of How I Met Your Mother. She'll play the best friend of the male lead who hopefully has more charm than that Ted Moseby guy, because I can't stand him. [THR]

... Breaking Bad—which, seriously guys, is the best show on television—had its Season 3 premiere on Sunday, and the numbers were great. For AMC, at least. The premiere airings drew a cumulative 3.3 million viewers, up 40 percent from the show's Season 2 premiere. That's pretty good, but about 350 million short of what it should be. [Variety]

... Life—which, seriously guys, is the best show on television—had its premiere on Sunday, and the numbers were great. For Discovery Channel at least. The animal-centric follow-up to Planet Earth drew 11.8 million viewers, 1.5 million more than its predecessor. 11.8 million? I'm so proud of you guys when you watch good television! [THR]

... Discovery is demonstrating that along with the good comes the bad, as the network has emerged as the frontrunner for Sarah Palin's Alaska-based reality program. Apparently A&E; has dropped out of the running, probably because Palin alone is asking for $1 million per episode. Who does she think she is, Charlie Sheen? [Variety]

... Thomas Haden Church has joined the Showtime series Episodes, which stars Matt LeBlanc as a parody of himself. The show actually sounds pretty awesome, with the premise in which LeBlanc is cast in a disastrous American adaptation of a hit British show. Church will play the American producer. [Variety]

... Reading Rainbow is returning, says host LeVar Burton. I don't really care about this, but thought it was a good opportunity to embed the show's trippy title sequence. "Butterfly in the sky..." [LeVar Burton's Twitter]
